We envision an Africa where; All women and girls can exercise their rights and make informed decisions about sexuality, relationships, pregnancies, child bearing and marriage, free from coercion, violence and discrimination Communities work together with numerous stakeholders to push community driven development. They are aware of their rights and work to empower each other while pushing development. Young people have access to educational opportunities as well as access to youth friendly reproductive right services Young people have access to information, resources to assume leadership with focus on social planning and policy change aiming at social action and system change

Context

FDM is a coalition of youth-led and youth-serving organisations advancing young people’s bodily autonomy through political education, coordinated public campaigning on femicide and preventable maternal death, and public budget accountability. Its founding model makes four unusual commitments: members are organisations rather than individuals, so that every member carries organisational weight; membership carries real, chartered obligations a minimum level of campaign action, participation in the Movement’s political education academy, and annual reporting alongside entitlements, with an automatic review that moves inactive members to affiliate status; governance is member-elected, with a majority of steering seats held by young women and reserved representation for disability-led and displacement-affected organisations; and CCID’s own role as Convenor is time-limited by design, with a chartered, dated plan to recede as member governance matures, because a movement permanently run by its convening NGO is a programme, not a movement. The Movement needs a complete founding documentation package: a founding charter that member organisations will negotiate line by line and ratify at a founding retreat, drafted so that it can genuinely be negotiated rather than merely presented; electoral rules that can deliver the chartered composition guarantees in practice; terms of reference and meeting procedures for the assembly, steering committee, working groups and secretariat; and a full membership pack application, endorsement, admission, orientation, annual returns and good-standing review — usable by small community groups, many of which are unregistered and led by young people without legal training. CCID has working drafts of the core charter and binding codes developed through its internal design process. These need to be completed, made internally consistent, stress-tested for procedural workability, and accompanied by the membership instruments and plain-language versions that turn a governance model into a functioning organisation. CCID seeks the support of two Online Volunteers to develop this complete movement building documentation package to ratification standard.

Task Description

CCID seeks two UN Online Volunteers with complementary profiles to develop the founding governance and membership documentation of the Freedom to Decide Movement: one volunteer focused on governance drafting, and one focused on membership instruments and plain-language accessibility. Working from CCID’s existing drafts and under the guidance of the FDM Movement Lead, the governance drafting volunteer will support the refinement and completion of the Movement’s founding charter, ensuring internal consistency, clear amendment and entrenchment provisions, and workable procedures for assemblies, elections and committee operations; develop the electoral rules for the Movement’s first steering committee election, including provisions that guarantee the chartered composition requirements; and produce terms of reference for the steering committee, working groups and secretariat, and standard meeting and minute templates. The membership instruments volunteer will develop the full membership pack: a membership application form suitable for both registered and unregistered organisations, an endorsement and admission workflow, a membership register template, a welcome and orientation pack for new member organisations, an annual activity return form matched to the charter’s membership obligations, and a good-standing review template. This volunteer will also produce plain-language versions of the charter’s key articles and the membership obligations, written for readers without legal training and suitable for adaptation into Cameroonian Pidgin, and will review the full document set for accessibility, consistency of terminology and ease of use by small community organisations. Both volunteers will participate in fortnightly virtual check-ins and revise documents in response to feedback from the Movement Lead and founding member reviewers. For safety and ethical reasons, Online Volunteers will not access, handle or receive any case data, testimony, or personal information of survivors, families or community members. All assignments use only public documents, draft materials, templates and anonymised or synthetic example data. Volunteers sign a confidentiality and conduct undertaking at induction and complete a short safeguarding briefing.
