Mission and objectives

The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is the leading UN entity on human rights. OHCHR’s mission is to work for the protection of all human rights for all people; to help empower people to realize their rights; and to assist those responsible for upholding such rights in ensuring that they are implemented.

Context

The Online Volunteer for social media will support the OHCHR New York Office in implementing its communications and advocacy activities. Working closely with the Public Information Officer (PIO), the volunteer will contribute to the creation of social media posts to give visibility to the work of the UN Human Rights Office in New York.

Task Description

The OHCHR New York Office is seeking one (1) Online Volunteer who, under the guidance of the Public Information Officer and in close collaboration with relevant colleagues, will support the production of visual communications materials and social media content. In particular, the Online Volunteer will be asked to: • Create three social media posts per week to promote OHCHR's advocacy initiatives, reports, statements, campaigns and events. • Research images to accompany the social media posts.
