Job Description

There’s something special about spending your days alongside like-minded people, just as committed to purposeful work as you. At Save the Children Australia, we attract bright and big-hearted people who are inspired to make a difference. Together, we are fearless in our pursuit of making lasting change for the children and communities who need it most.

Own one of Australia's leading purpose-driven social media channels.

Social media is one of the most important ways people experience Save the Children. It's where they discover our work, engage with the issues facing children, and decide to take action.

We're looking for an experienced social media specialist to lead and evolve our social media presence. You'll be our go-to expert; trusted to identify opportunities, shape strategy, create compelling platform-first content, analyse performance and continually improve results.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys balancing strategy with execution. You'll have the autonomy to make recommendations, influence decisions and drive performance, while staying close to the work that makes great social media successful.

No two days look the same.

One day you might be filming content with our creative team. The next you could be analysing campaign performance, advising senior leaders on executive social media, responding to a humanitarian emergency, or jumping on emerging trends that help us gain visibility.

You'll work across fundraising, advocacy, media, domestic & international programs, and our executive team to proactively identify stories, build our content pipeline and keep our social channels relevant, engaging and impactful.

What you'll own

  • The strategy, performance and continuous improvement of Save the Children's social media channels.
  • Building and managing a proactive social content pipeline and calendar.
  • Creating engaging, audience-first content that grows audiences and inspires action.
  • Identifying opportunities, trends and stories that strengthen our brand and campaigns.
  • Advising stakeholders and senior leaders on social media best practice.
  • Community management, performance reporting and continuous optimisation.

About you

You're an experienced social media specialist with a proven track record of growing channels, creating engaging content and improving performance through data and insight.

You know great social media isn't just about publishing content. It's about understanding audiences, spotting opportunities, building relationships, testing ideas and continually improving results.

You'll also bring:

  • Experience developing and delivering successful social media strategies across multiple platforms.
  • Strong content creation skills across copy, imagery and short-form video.
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders and influencing through evidence and insight.
  • A naturally curious, proactive mindset and the initiative to identify opportunities without waiting to be asked.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Why you'll love it

You'll join a collaborative Brand & Communications team where great ideas are encouraged. You'll work alongside creatives, communicators, fundraisers and advocates to tell stories that matter, and help shape how one of Australia's most recognised charities shows up across social media.

We also offer:

  • Flexible hybrid working.
  • Individual learning and development opportunities.
  • Support for your wellbeing through our Employee Wellbeing Program.
  • A genuinely inclusive workplace where everyone belongs.
  • Full salary packaging benefits (please use this link to see how much this benefit could mean to you!)
  • Extra leave to use in a range of ways to ensure you’re able to perform at your optimum
