Analyst, Business Development

Purpose of Job

Business Development is an essential part of the business cycle to help ensure the sustainability of the Bank’s pipeline, to support its overall external visibility, and to expand the Bank’s network across the regions and investor base. The set of business development deliverables requires a systematic strategic approach to outlook and planning; consistent leadership externally as well as internally across several teams; and constant innovation in respect of business development delivery products, channels, and formats.

The Analyst supports and enables the Principal, Business Development Lead and the Associate, Business Development in identifying potential FDI (Foreign Direct Investor) opportunities and raising awareness of the Bank’s capabilities with the aim to attract potential new business opportunities.

Background

The role of the Business Development Unit is that of a resource embedded within the Banking Department. The Unit plays an integral role in supporting Banking teams attract new clients and in raising awareness of the Bank and its ability to deliver high quality projects. This is achieved, primarily, by identifying potential new business/client opportunities.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

• Working closely with Business Development team members, proactively contribute to all aspects of coordination and preparation of marketing business development visits of EBRD senior management (includes President, FVP, VP Banking and MDs).
• Support Banking/CSG teams in market mapping and pipeline building, as and when requested.
• Provide research and in-depth background information on companies or sectors and to prepare supporting marketing materials such as presentations and briefings, as and when requested.
• Working closely with the Principal, Business Development Lead, take a leading role in the design of an EBRD pitch book and work with various Banking/CSG teams on customising needs to promote the Bank’s activities and products.
• Support the Associate, BD on the identification of FDI opportunities in non-COOs and implementation of the Business Outreach Programme.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

• Corporate and/or business development, marketing, and research experience from a leading investment/merchant or commercial organisation.
• Broad knowledge and understanding of banking project cycle.
• Good knowledge and understanding of key marketing principles.
• Knowledge of Banking Department's procedures and the Bank's rules would be an advantage.
• Computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), knowledge and maintenance of various BDU databases (BTOR, CRM, Slides Library and Documentum), knowledge of Bank’s systems (SAP, DTM, ERD Business Contacts, Data Warehouse) and internet search engines.
• Prior experience in central and eastern Europe/former Soviet Union and/or SEMED is desirable.
• Very good written and oral communication skills in English. Other languages are an advantage.
