Job Description

Result of Service

The CCAC Associate Programme Specialist will provide well-organised and substantive support to assigned CCAC portfolios, helping turn agreed priorities into timely outputs, effective partner engagement, accurate information and coordinated follow-up. The consultant will work under substantive guidance while taking ownership of defined tasks and contributing to cross-functional delivery across the Secretariat.

Duties and Responsibilities

The UNEP-convened Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) is a partnership of governments, intergovernmental organizations, and representatives of the private sector, the environmental community, and other members of civil society. The CCAC is the only international initiative working on integrated climate and clean air solutions to reduce the rate of near-term warming. It focuses on fast action to reduce emissions of short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) including methane, black carbon, HFCs and tropospheric ozone. More information about the Global Methane Pledge is here: www.globalmethanepledge.org The CCAC Secretariat is seeking one or more CCAC Associate Programme Specialists to support the timely and high-quality delivery of its work programme. Selected consultants will provide substantive programme support across one or more assigned portfolios, which may include country engagement, project and grant delivery, strategy and governance, science and assessments, communications and knowledge management, partnership engagement, or sector-focused work. Objectives: 1. Support planning and delivery of assigned CCAC projects, workstreams and partnership activities. 2. Conduct research and prepare concise draft briefings, presentations, correspondence, meeting materials and other substantive products. 3. Maintain accurate workplans, trackers, databases, document repositories and records of decisions and follow-up actions. 4. Support the organisation and follow-up of meetings, workshops, consultations and partner engagements. 5. Coordinate routine information flows and follow-up with governments, implementing partners, experts and other stakeholders. 6. Support monitoring of progress, risks, deliverables and results, including initial review and quality assurance of outputs. 7. Help connect assigned work with relevant country, sector, science, funding, governance, monitoring, communications and partnership activities. 8. Contribute to knowledge management, process improvement and consistent ways of working across the Secretariat. 9. Communicate progress, emerging issues and proposed next steps clearly and promptly to relevant colleagues. 10. Provide ad hoc support as part of the CCAC Secretariat team. Performance indicators: - Assigned outputs are accurate, concise, well-organised and delivered by agreed deadlines. - Trackers, records and shared information are complete, current and readily usable by colleagues. - Meetings and partner engagements are well prepared and agreed actions are followed up promptly. - Work reflects sound knowledge of SLCPs/super pollutants and the priorities of a multi-stakeholder partnership. - The consultant collaborates constructively across functions and raises risks or bottlenecks in a timely manner.

Qualifications/special skills

- Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in environmental science, engineering, international relations, public policy, development studies, programme or project management, communications, or another field relevant to the assignment is required. - A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. - A minimum of 2 years of direct professional experience in climate change and air pollution, is required. - Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs), also referred to as super pollutants, including their links to climate change, air pollution and sustainable development, is required. - Experience working in multi-stakeholder partnerships and coordinating with different organisations or stakeholder groups is required. - Experience preparing clear written products, maintaining programme information and supporting the delivery of multiple concurrent activities is required. - Experience working in an international or developing-country context is desirable.

Languages

- Fluency in English (written and oral) is required - Additional knowledge of other UN official languages is an asset.
