BACKGROUND AND UNIT SUMMARY

The World Bank Group Human Resources Vice Presidency is focused on delivering high-value HR services that enable organizational performance and help make the World Bank Group an employer of choice in international development. Within Human Resources, The WBG Talent Management and Development department has a renewed mandate to modernize talent management and development to meet changing organizational needs, enabling a "One WBG future ready workforce". This role sits within the Leadership and Staff Development Unit responsible for designing and delivering learning and development solutions that strengthen leadership capability, support staff growth, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning across the organization.

The incumbent will support the design, rollout, and ongoing delivery of coaching and professional development offerings. The role will focus primarily on facilitating and coordinating the internal coaching and a new peer coaching program delivered through cohorts across different levels of the organization. The Analyst will also contribute to other leadership and staff development programs.

The position is based in Washington, DC and reports to the Manager, Leadership and Staff Development.
 
The selected candidate will work closely with colleagues on the Leadership and Staff Development team, HR Business Partners, program participants, facilitators, and other stakeholders across the World Bank Group. This is a hands-on role combining facilitation, program coordination, and support for the development and delivery of learning offerings in a global, multicultural environment.

Peer Coaching Program Design and Delivery

  • Support the design, pilot, rollout, and ongoing delivery of a peer coaching program offered through cohorts across different levels of the organization.
  • Facilitate peer coaching sessions and related group learning experiences, using established approaches and materials to create an inclusive and engaging participant experience.
  • Coordinate cohort planning, participant engagement, scheduling, communications, learning materials, implementation logistics, and follow-up.
  • Engage and support internal peer coaching facilitators from the Leadership and Staff Development team and, potentially, from across Human Resources and the broader organization.
  • Support the development of resources, orientation, and practice opportunities for internal peer coaching facilitators as the program grows.
  • Collect and summarize participant and facilitator feedback and contribute practical suggestions for program improvement.

Leadership and Staff Development Program Support

  • Support the design, delivery, and improvement of professional development offerings that contribute to the World Bank Group’s culture of learning and strengthen communication and business skills.
  • Provide program coordination support, including maintaining workplans, tracking milestones, coordinating stakeholders, preparing communications and materials, and managing delivery logistics.
  • Develop and deliver clear presentations, briefings, and participant communications, and support or facilitate other leadership and staff development offerings as needed.
  • Support research, benchmarking, stakeholder consultations, and learning needs analysis, and summarize findings for review by other team members.
  • Compile participant feedback and program data, identify themes, and contribute to reports and recommendations for program improvement.
  • As appropriate, serve as an internal coach through the World Bank Group’s internal coaching program, applying established standards for confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Coordinate with internal partners and external providers and contribute to team planning, knowledge sharing, and other operational or project needs.

Selection Criteria

  • Relevant degree and professional experience, with demonstrated practical experience in facilitation, program coordination, learning and development, or a related area. As a guide, this would typically include a bachelor’s degree or higher with 2 years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong facilitation skills and demonstrated experience leading workshops, learning sessions, cohort-based experiences, or group discussions in virtual, in-person, or hybrid settings.
  • Experience supporting the design, coordination, or delivery of learning, leadership development, coaching, mentoring, or other professional development programs.
  • Strong program coordination and organizational skills, including the ability to maintain workplans, manage timelines and logistics, support multiple activities, and follow through on details.
  • Strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to organize information and develop clear, engaging, and audience-appropriate materials.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate with participants, facilitators, colleagues, and stakeholders across organizational and cultural boundaries.
  • Understanding of adult learning, group learning, coaching, or behavior-change principles and the ability to apply them in practical settings.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to gather and summarize information, identify themes, and suggest practical improvements.
  • Sound judgment, discretion, initiative, adaptability, and commitment to confidentiality, with the ability to work effectively both independently on assigned tasks and as part of a global, virtual, and multicultural team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications; familiarity with learning, survey, collaboration, or program-management platforms is desirable.
