World Bank Group Treasury
WBG Treasury is the Vice Presidency (VPU), reporting to the Managing Director and World Bank Group Chief Financial Officer, performing treasury functions for the World Bank Group and other public and private sector entities. Its activities are organized and grouped into the following divisions: Capital Markets; Asset Management; Client Solutions & Structuring; Treasury Operations; Treasury Partnerships & Advisory; and Treasury Risk, Compliance & Controls. Treasury has been a large and significant participant in the international financial markets for over eighty years and has achieved a global reputation as a prudent and innovative borrower, investor, and risk manager. Treasury is responsible for: (i) managing approximately $300 billion in assets for the World Bank Group and other official sector investors; (ii) leading IBRD's, IDA's and IFC’s triple-A rated financing programs in international and domestic bond and derivative markets; (iii) conducting asset and liability management for IBRD's, IDA’s and IFC's balance sheets; (iv) overseeing the development and outreach related to the financing and hedging products the WBG provides for its developing-country clients; and (v) collaborating with the World Bank member countries to help build their financial markets related capacity through advisory services. Staff in Treasury regularly interact and work with other Departments across the WBG finance, operations, and investment teams.
Treasury Financial Technology (TREFT)
Primary responsibilities for the Treasury Financial Technology (TREFT) are two-fold: (i) to coordinate the efficient internal administration of WBG Information Technology infrastructure ensuring it remains fit for purpose, up-to-date, and secure and reliable, and (ii) to develop appropriate fintech strategies and to build partnerships for digital market and development effect. Cross-unit initiatives include WBG Treasury’s participation in large scale asset and liability system renewal, system upgrades in response to regulatory reforms and emerging technology projects and research in fields such as DLT/blockchain, asset tokenization, digital currency, and process automation using Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning.
Treasury Banking Operations (TREBK)
Within the Treasury Operations department, TREBK provides banking and payments services for WBG entities and IBRD-administered Trust Funds. The team processes payments, receipts, and foreign exchange for all corporate cash activities, manages relationships with approximately 400 correspondent banks, maintains the WBG's SWIFT infrastructure, and performs the reconciliation and accounting controls that underpin the integrity of the WBG's financial position. TREBK operates across four functional teams: Banking Relations (BKR), Cash Management, SWIFT, Static Data and Project Management (SSPM), and Investigations, Reconciliation & Accounting (IRA) — the team to which this position belongs.
The IRA Team
The IRA team is the central control function for cash and custody activity across the WBG. It is responsible for reconciliation controls, investigations, and cash accounting across more than 1,000 cash and custody accounts spanning all WBG financial activities — including Treasury's funding and investment portfolios and corporate operating accounts. IRA is also a key TREBK interface for IT transformation, system upgrades, and business-led process automation.
Purpose of the Position
TREBK-IRA is seeking an Extended Term Consultant who will have responsibilities for specific individual tasks/projects within TREBK’s Investigation, Reconciliation and Accounting (IRA) team. They will support the team's technology and systems project portfolio and drive process re-engineering and automation efforts. This is a dual-profile role: half of the position is dedicated to business-led technology and automation delivery, requiring direct hands-on development capability, and half to operational responsibilities across reconciliation, investigation, and reporting functions.
