Duties and Responsibilities

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action. This internship is in the Global Funds Mitigation and Transparency Section, within the UNEP, Climate Change Division. The intern will report to the Head of Unit. The intern will support the team in the development and implementation of marketing strategies and campaigns to increase the visibility and uptake of products and initiatives across partner countries. Tasks will include: • supporting the development and execution of marketing campaigns across digital and traditional channels; • assisting with the creation of marketing materials, presentations, social media content, flyers, infographics, and other creative assets; • supporting digital marketing activities, including social media management, content development, audience engagement, and social listening; • researching target audiences, markets, trends, and stakeholder needs to inform marketing strategies; • helping to translate complex technical information into clear, simple, and engaging marketing products and messages; • supporting the marketing and promotion of products and initiatives to partner countries, governments, and public-sector stakeholders; • assisting with the planning and delivery of marketing activities for workshops, conferences, launches, and other events; • supporting the use of creative tools such as Canva, Adobe Suite, CorelDRAW, and other digital platforms to develop marketing assets; • contributing to the preparation of marketing briefs, presentations, campaign reports, and other knowledge products; • monitoring marketing and campaign performance and supporting the analysis of audience engagement and feedback; • participating in brainstorming sessions to identify innovative marketing approaches and opportunities to strengthen product visibility and reach; • and assisting with the coordination, documentation, and follow-up of marketing activities and campaigns. The internship offers an opportunity to gain practical experience in strategic marketing within a global NGO, including marketing to public-sector stakeholders, supporting international campaigns and initiatives, and building experience in inter-agency networking and stakeholder engagement across a global institutional environment.

Qualifications/special skills

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) in marketing, business, digital media, economics, environmental science, or a related field; (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in a relevant discipline with demonstrated experience or coursework in digital or cooperate marketing as well as public relations. - Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. 2. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, master’s or PH.D. Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
