Mission and objectives

The United Nations Development Programme is the United Nations' global development network. It promotes technical and investment cooperation among nations and advocates for change and connects countries to knowledge, experience, and resources to help people build a better life for themselves. UNDP is on the ground in over 170 countries and territories, working with them on their own solutions to global, regional, and national development challenges. Today’s 1.45 billion young people (aged 18 to 29), the largest youth generation ever, are actively shaping the world. They are digitally connected, passionate about bringing change, and increasingly driving social, political, and economic progress in their local communities and beyond.

Context

UNDP Kuwait is strengthening its strategic communications to support partnership building and resource mobilization, including by increasing the visibility of development results achieved through partnerships with the government of Kuwait and philanthropies. These partnerships span a range of development and crisis contexts and generate results, experiences and human stories that can help demonstrate the value and impact of Kuwait’s development cooperation. A significant amount of information on these initiatives is available through project reports, technical documents, results data and other programme materials. However, there is an opportunity to translate this information into stronger public-facing narratives that communicate not only what was delivered, but why it matters, what changed, and what partnerships made possible. UNDP Kuwait therefore seeks the services of a writer to develop 2 high-quality stories, features and blogs for UNDP’s website and other digital channels. The assignment will support the development of compelling, accessible and evidence-based content that showcases results, highlights partnerships and UNDP’s added value, and helps create opportunities for continued and expanded cooperation. The content produced will form part of UNDP Kuwait’s broader strategic communications and resource mobilization efforts, targeting existing and prospective development partners as well as wider regional and global audiences.

Task Description

Develop two high-quality website content, which may include: - human-interest and impact stories; - partnership and donor stories; - blogs; - thematic stories connecting individual interventions to broader development challenges and opportunities;
