The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide humanitarian protection and assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and at the same time promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.
Behind every humanitarian response is reliable information.
Every family searching for a missing loved one, every person seeking protection, and every humanitarian decision relies on accurate, secure and well-managed data. As a Protection Data Manager, you help transform sensitive information into trusted insights that enable the ICRC to protect people affected by conflict and armed violence.
This role is much more than managing databases. You will ensure that critical information is handled with accuracy, confidentiality and care, enabling colleagues in the field to make informed decisions and deliver protection activities to those who need them most.
If you are passionate about data, enjoy solving complex problems, and want your technical expertise to have a real humanitarian impact, this is an opportunity to use your skills where they truly matter.
The data manager ensures that protection data is properly managed through the entire Data Life Cycle. They manage data and processes related to the follow-up of protection beneficiaries and events in the frame of the ICRC mandate. In so doing, they contribute directly to the activities of the Protection department in our offices abroad. The main duties are the following:
Most of the data manager’s work takes place in an office but field visits might be required.
At the ICRC, we value impact, collaboration, respect, and compassion. We seek candidates who demonstrate behaviors based on these shared values. For more information on the ICRC values, please visit this page.
