CURRENT OPPORTUNITY

GGGI Mongolia Country Program is looking for a talented individual to support the implementation of the Climate Technology Accelerator Fund (CTAF) project and the Clean Heating Transition in Ulaanbaatar Informal Settlements, implemented under Component 2 of the Scaling Article 6 ITMO Pipelines project.

CTAF supports the piloting and demonstration of innovative climate technologies to accelerate their deployment and mobilize follow-on investment. Within this framework, the Clean Heating Transition initiative addresses Ulaanbaatar's severe winter air pollution by supporting the transition away from raw coal heating in ger-district, while generating robust, audit-ready emissions data to unlock climate finance and carbon market opportunities under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.

The Clean Heating Transition project supports Mongolia's shift away from coal heating by developing a technical baseline and digital monitoring system for up to 15 priority Heat-Only Boilers (HOBs) in Ulaanbaatar's ger districts generating the emissions data needed to unlock Article 6 carbon financing and investment from Korean partners.

The assignment will include, but is not limited to, the following tasks:

• Providing administrative support to the project team, including scheduling, correspondence, and document management
• Supporting procurement processes, including preparation of requisitions and coordination with relevant units
• Assisting with data collection, entry, and management for project monitoring and reporting purposes
• Supporting the organization of project meetings, workshops, and stakeholder consultations
• Assisting with drafting minutes, reports, and other project documentation
• Supporting communication and visibility activities for the project, including materials i
• Assisting with logistics for project-related events, missions, and site visits
• Implementing GGGI's internal policies and procedures, as well as relevant donor guidelines and requirements
• Providing translation support if required
• Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants to the GGGI internship program must at the time of application meet the following requirements:

• Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s (final year), Master’s or PhD program prior to internship assignment, or a recent graduate within the last 12 months.
• Be engaged or recently engaged in academic study in a field directly related to the GGGI’s work.
• Possess an excellent command of English.

QUALIFICATION

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in energy, environmental science, international development, engineering, climate change, or a related field
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Mongolian
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Genuine interest in climate change, green growth, and international development
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multicultural team environment

SELECTION PROCESS

TEMRS AND CONDITIONS

• Duration: The internship program is for four months. Once selected, interns must begin your internship either prior to or within 12 months of graduation.
• Stipend: GGGI interns receive a monthly stipend of USD 500 per month (unless agreed to be funded by sponsoring institutions). All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by either the interns themselves or sponsoring institutions.
• Visa: GGGI will provide a supporting letter for visa. Interns will be responsible for obtaining and financing the necessary visas.
• Travel: Intern will arrange and finance their travel to the internship location.
• Medical Insurance: Interns must present proof of valid medical insurance to GGGI upon returning the signed internship contract.
• Confidentiality: Interns must keep confidential any and all unpublished information obtained during the course of the internship and may not publish any documents based on such information.
• Academic Credit: Interns may get academic credit from their institution of higher education for the internship. Interns need to check with their university to confirm their academic credit policy for internships.
• Working Hours: Interns are expected to work during normal working hours. Leave should be pre-approved by the Intern Manager, and the latter should inform the Office of HR accordingly.
• Learning Outcomes: Before completion of the internship, Intern Managers are expected to review the learning outcomes with the intern.
• Certificate: Provided upon successful completion of the internship, upon request.
