The European Investment Fund (EIF) is seeking to recruit for its Risk Office Department (RO) – Internal Control & Regulatory Division at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a Senior Compliance Technology & Automation Specialist*. This is a full-time temporary position at grade 5.

Purpose
Part of the EIB Group, the mission of the European Investment Fund (EIF) is to improve access to finance for SMEs and small mid-caps in Europe. We do this by supporting emerging and established fund managers with equity investments and by designing debt financing instruments that share the risk taken by financial institutions when they lend to or invest in small businesses. We bring this support closer to entrepreneurs through our extensive network of partners and financial intermediaries in all EU Member States and associated countries.
Operating network
The selected candidate will report to the Head of Internal Controls & Regulatory Division, collaborating closely with colleagues in Risk Office, other EIF services and any relevant services at the EIB.
The Compliance Technology & Automation Specialist is based in specialized Compliance and Non-Financial Risk teams and drives efficiency, digitalisation, and innovation within the EIF Risk Office, for Internal Controls & Regulatory Division. The role focuses on automating manual processes, integrating various data sources, exploring advanced technologies and leveraging AI to strengthen data governance, improve efficiency, reduce operational risk, and support complex contractual as well as non-contractual reporting and monitoring activities.
The ideal candidate bridges Compliance and Non-Financial Risk expertise with technology fluency, developing new solutions that are secure, effective and efficient, as well as aligned with internal guidelines, procedures, processes, and standards.
Responsibilities
In your role, you will work on:
Process Automation & Digitalisation
Analyse Compliance & Risk workflows and identify automation opportunities (e.g., RPA, Power Automate, workflow engines).
Design, implement, and maintain automated solutions that reduce manual workload and enhance consistency.
Drive digitalisation initiatives, including data optimization, automation of risk calculations, dashboard and report creation, and process redesign.
AI‑Driven Enhancements
Develop and deploy AI‑powered tools for surveillance, monitoring, reporting, data screening, quality control checking, and performance evaluation.
Collaborate with Compliance & Risk subject‑matter experts to ensure AI outputs meet contractual obligations, procedural guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Set up human‑in‑the‑loop validation processes for GenAI use cases.
Data, Systems & Integration
Build and maintain data pipelines, reports, dashboards, and structured/unstructured data flows.
Ensure seamless system integration (e.g., SharePoint, Copilot, Power Platform, databases, external rating agencies and Bloomberg inputs, Power BI).
Support the enhancement of monitoring systems, data quality control tools, and risk‑parameter calculation engines.
Governance, Controls & Documentation
Provide clear technical documentation: architectures, workflows, test logs, validation procedures.
Ensure adherence to data‑quality principles, information‑security policies, and AI governance requirements.
Monitor technological developments to keep solutions aligned with EU and industry regulatory frameworks.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Change Enablement
Work closely with Risk teams to translate needs into scalable technological solutions.
Foster adoption through training, communication, and user support.
Act as a bridge between IO, IT, Risk, Legal, and Data/AI units.

Experience in Systems & Process Improvement, including optimisation of internal control and regulatory workflows.
Ability to implement data flows and monitoring tools using Data Quality Management & Systems Integration.
Strong capabilities in Reporting Skills and Data Visualization to support regulatory reporting and monitoring.
Artificial Intelligence & Digital Enablement
Practical experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning applied to compliance monitoring, surveillance, and reporting.
Ability to leverage AI solutions for data screening, quality checks, and control effectiveness.
Familiarity with emerging AI practices (e.g. generative AI, validation approaches) in regulated environments.
Risk, Compliance & Governance
Strong understanding of Regulatory & Compliance Monitoring and Legislation & Regulation frameworks.
Knowledge and application of Internal Control Framework principles.
Ability to translate regulatory requirements into operational processes and controls.
Strong awareness of Data Protection and IT Security requirements in compliance environments.
Application of Data Quality Management & Systems Integration to ensure regulatory data integrity.

Ability to produce structured documentation aligned with Document Management standards.

Proven Stakeholder Management and Communication skills across Compliance, Risk and IT.
