*Internal benchmark: Investment Analyst/Manager
Panel interviews via videoconference are anticipated for October/November 2026
Purpose
Part of the EIB Group, the mission of the European Investment Fund (EIF) is to improve access to finance for SMEs and small mid-caps in Europe. We do this by supporting emerging and established fund managers with equity investments and by designing debt financing instruments that share the risk taken by financial institutions when they lend to or invest in small businesses. We bring this support closer to entrepreneurs through our extensive network of partners and financial intermediaries in all EU Member States and associated countries.
The Private Credit (PC) Division comprises investment professionals specialised in both the execution of new fund investments and the ongoing monitoring of existing fund investments.
Operating network
In this role, you will directly contribute to delivering the EI business plan and support the development of the EU Private Capital market ecosystem, by expanding access to "non-dilutive" scale-up and growth funding for European SMEs and Mid-Caps.
Responsibilities
In close collaboration with colleagues in the Private Credit Division and in line with practices across the Equity Investments Department, you will:
Contribute to delivering the EI business plan by helping identify, assess, perform due diligence on, and negotiate fund investment opportunities.
Monitor existing fund investments by reviewing quarterly and annual reports, joining portfolio update calls, and participating in Annual General Meetings and Advisory Board meetings; capture key insights in clear internal notes and ensure supporting documentation is properly recorded in internal systems.
Contribute to high-quality internal investment documentation for review and approval by EIF decision-making bodies.
Track and analyse qualitative and quantitative developments in the European private debt market and investment themes aligned with EIBG strategic priorities, identifying trends and risks that could affect EIF activities and portfolio performance.
Build and nurture a high-quality network of external stakeholders (fund managers, limited partners and market participants) to support sourcing, selection and portfolio monitoring.
Qualifications
At least 3 (three) years of post-graduation (after having obtained your initial university diploma) relevant experience in financial analysis, valuation and/or fund monitoring, out of which at least 2 years of experience acquired in fund investment (such as: private credit, private equity and/or venture capital)
A university degree (preferably at post-graduate level) with a preference in finance, business administration, a science-based discipline or another relevant field
Solid analytical skills and confidence to work with data and digital tools - including AI-powered solutions.
Excellent written and spoken English. Knowledge of other EU languages is an advantage.
Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills and collaborative mindset.
Above all, you are curious and motivated to deepen your expertise in private markets and fund-of-funds investing.
You enjoy working as part of a team and collaborating across functions, as the role involves close coordination and consultation with other Services across EIF.
