Analyst, Banking-MD SEMED Front Office

Purpose of Job

The Analyst supports the Managing Director for the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean (SEMED) and the Front Office in monitoring regional business delivery, analysing the investment pipeline and portfolio, and preparing clear, accurate and timely information for senior-management decision-making.

The Analyst will take responsibility for the tasks assigned to them by the operation leader or more senior members of the project team, or more senior bankers, which may include undertaking comprehensive due diligence, including financial, market, integrity and EBRD policy compliance, as well as effective post-signing implementation and monitoring. The Analyst undertakes financial, operational and market analysis; maintains portfolio, pipeline and performance information; supports business planning and strategic initiatives; and prepares briefings, presentations and follow-up materials for internal and external engagements.

Working under the guidance of the MD SEMED and senior Front Office colleagues, the Analyst coordinates closely with Regional Directors, country and sector teams, Resident Offices and relevant corporate functions, while maintaining high standards of judgement, confidentiality and responsiveness.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the MD SEMED and senior Front Office colleagues:

• Portfolio, Pipeline and Performance Analysis
• Collect, validate and analyse regional portfolio, pipeline, signing, disbursement and performance data; prepare dashboards and management reports; identify trends, variances, delivery risks and data-quality issues; and coordinate timely follow-up with relevant teams.
• Undertake financial, sector, client and country analysis to support business planning, pipeline development, strategic initiatives and the MD’s review of priority transactions and regional opportunities.
• Maintain accurate trackers for priority projects, management actions, strategic initiatives and stakeholder commitments, escalating material issues and supporting closure of agreed actions.
• Briefings, Coordination and Business Development Support
• Prepare concise briefing notes, presentations, speeches, meeting packs and background materials for the MD’s internal and external engagements, synthesising financial, operational, economic and stakeholder information for senior audiences.
• Support coordination of senior-management missions, regional reviews, business-development activities and engagement with governments, clients, investors, donors, IFIs and other partners, including agendas, logistics, materials and follow-up.
• Coordinate information requests and contributions across Regional Directors, Heads of Country, Resident Offices, sector teams and corporate departments; ensure outputs are complete, consistent and delivered within agreed timelines.
• Contribute to regional strategy, policy and special projects, including research, drafting and analysis related to private-sector development, capital mobilisation, green transition, inclusion and regional resilience.
• Handle sensitive information with discretion and ensure all assigned tasks are completed accurately, on time and in line with the Bank’s policies, procedures and objectives.

Qualifications, Skills, Experience & Knowledge

• Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree preferred in public policy, economics, finance or other relevant disciplines or equivalent experience in the areas of expertise.
• Quantitative/numerical skills with the ability to interpret financial information
• Computer literacy, conversant with Microsoft Office and spread sheet packages including financial analysis and modelling modules.
• Experience preparing concise briefings, presentations or management information and coordinating contributions from multiple stakeholders is desirable.
• Good understanding of relevant systems and processes.
• Ability to work effectively as a team member and to deadlines and under time pressure.
• Good written and oral communication skills in English.
• Good command over Arabic language is an advantage.
• Relevant financial industry experience from an investment or commercial bank international development agency or auditing/financial/strategy consulting firm operating to international standards.
• Exposure to industry/country experience.
