About TSSP Phase 3

The PNG–Australia Transport Sector Support Program Phase 3 (TSSP3) is a critical, high-priority Australian investment that stands to make a major contribution to PNG development outcomes.

Working closely with the Government of PNG (GoPNG), TSSP3 will build on the significant body of achievements, lessons, and relationships from the past 17 years of operation and will continue to contribute to the achievement of the overarching goal of:

‘A more effective, efficient, and inclusive transport system, enabling the economic and social development of PNG.’

Gender Equity, Disability Equity, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) and Social and Environmental Safeguards, Locally Led Development (LLD), Climate Change and Disaster Resilience (CCDR) and Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, Learning and Adapting (MERLA) are a key focus for the program and are integrated into all of TSSP3’s activities and operations.

This phase of TSSP3 will run from November 2023 to November 2028.

The Role
The Senior Writer will provide specialist writing and broader communications support to the program. This person will draft, edit and produce high-quality content across formats including media releases, digital media, feature articles, fact sheets, speeches and insight products. As a senior writer, they will support the implementation of program communications strategies, report on stakeholder engagement activities and contribute to public diplomacy and outreach efforts in support of TSSP3’s goals.

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in English, journalism, communications, marketing or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ professional writing experience, with a portfolio of published or delivered work demonstrating talent in producing clear, accurate, audience-appropriate content under deadline
  • Sound understanding of PNG’s media environment, including key outlets, journalists and the broader communications landscape
  • Understanding of the government and development communications environment, including the need for factual, balanced, non-promotional content and sensitivity to political and diplomatic considerations
