About the role

Reporting in to the Humanitarian Lead - Asia, the Emergency Programme Officer - Nepal will be responsible for supporting and managing Christian Aid partnerships and programmes within the Nepal response. This will include the effective disbursement of funds to implementing partners and recommending grants to partners, developing humanitarian storytelling, case study development, media engagement, emergency reporting, and community-centred communication that support accountability, donor visibility, and resource mobilization while maintaining humanitarian principles and safeguarding standards.

Some of the main areas of responsibility for the Emergency Programme Officer - Nepal will include:

• Ensure projects are delivered on time and in compliance with project agreements and with Christian Aid , bilateral contributor and ACT Alliance financial policies, procedures and reporting requirements.
• Support the grant management process, including partner due diligence, POCRA, bank account validation, grant set-up and transfers, ensuring all documentation is accurately logged on Christian Aid’s programme management information system (iPIMS).
• Support the development of comprehensive & consolidated response plans and reports for the response and of CA Appeal reporting, submitted within the agreed schedules and consistent with financial reports.
• Develop communication plans during emergencies.
• Identify key messages for affected communities, donors, partners, and media. Ensure consistent and accurate messaging.
• Collect beneficiary stories ethically and respectfully.
• Conduct interviews and gather testimonies.
• Write compelling human-interest stories showing impact and needs.
• Support the establishment and monitoring of community accountability mechanisms, with support from Christian Aid accountability staff.
• Support the completion, sign-off and implementation of response strategy documents (Rolling Plans).
• Develop and support internal communications on the response, including situation reports (SitReps) and updates for internal platforms.
• Organise response coordination and operational meetings, ensuring minutes are documented and filed appropriately.
• Capture and disseminate key lessons and knowledge from the response to relevant stakeholders, contributing to institutional learning
• Support to represent Christian Aid in coordination meetings and forums relevant to the response, including ACT Alliance forum and cluster coordination spaces.

About you

Who we are looking for.

Essential:

• Essential Minimum 5 years of experience:
• Practical experience and skills in grant management, budget control procedures and compliance mechanisms.
• Experience of working with local partners; knowledge of locally led approaches is a strong advantage.
• Knowledge and understanding of working with donor requirements, in particular reporting and planning; knowledge of ACT Appeal requirements is a strong advantage.
• Knowledge of emergency relief, preparedness and humanitarian aid, and their link to development work.
• Strong knowledge of accountability, cash programming, safeguarding, and Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI)
• Strong experiences in Identify compelling human stories from affected communities.
• strong experience in conduct sensitive interviews with beneficiaries.
• strong experience in capture personal experiences, challenges, and recovery journeys.
• Strong experience Write clear, engaging, and audience-focused narratives.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required.
• Willingness and ability to travel regularly to Nepal, including for extended periods, subject to security clearance and protocols.
• Ability to work from own initiative and under pressure; adaptable, flexible, and interested in learning.

Desirable:

• Experience working directly with local organisations through equitable partnership.
• Experience of supporting humanitarian programmes and teams.
• Experience of working in Nepal and/or knowledge of the Nepal operating context.
• Good communication skills in Hindi
