Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: CARE's Fleet Transformation Project is part of CARE’s Supply Chain Transformation portfolio that aims to create a safer, more efficient, more sustainable, and more cost-effective fleet operation across CARE. The programme encompasses the transformation of fleet policies, processes, technology, operating models, governance, and asset management practices, including the implementation of a Fleet Management System, vehicle tracking and safety technologies, fleet rightsizing, fleet service charge structures, and enhanced fleet safety controls. The project seeks to improve road safety outcomes, reduce operational costs, strengthen compliance and decision-making through better data, lower environmental impact, and ensure that CARE's vehicle assets effectively support programme delivery in some of the world's most challenging operating environments. The Project Manager will play a critical role in supporting the successful implementation of CARE’s global fleet technology solution across country offices. Reporting to the functional lead of Fleet with a dotted line to the Senior Director of Transformation, this role will lead project management activities to ensure there is excellent planning, resource allocation, risk management to ensure the project’s objectives are achieved. The Project Manager will work closely with the Functional / Technical leads, Change Manager and implementation partners to drive progress and completion of the project team activities. This position is essential to ensuring that the new fleet technology is embraced across CARE’s diverse global operation. You will have a proven track record of successful project management and supporting the delivery of major projects in regards to business processes and systems within a large and complex international organisation. RESPONSIBILITIES: Project Planning and Execution Develop and manage comprehensive project plans including scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements. Prioritize and oversee project implementation and delivery, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and effective use of resources. Identify and address resource and budget challenges, proactively resolving potential roadblocks to project success. Project Management, Reporting & Governance Monitor workstream activities, manage adherence to plans, and support team members in resolving obstacles to delivery. Provide regular status reports on project progress, finances, resources, risks, and issues, in line with CARE’s PMO guidelines. Support the Project Lead in managing program governance, including preparation for steering committee reviews and approvals. Risk and Issue Management Identify, document, and mitigate risks and issues related to the fleet technology rollout. Proactively escalate challenges and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve blockers, ensuring project continuity and success. Promotion of Project Management Best Practices Contribute to the advancement of project management practices within CARE, sharing examples of best practice and supporting training initiatives for others. Leverage AI tools, such as Copilot, to enhance project management efficiency and outcomes. Create high-impact presentations and written communications to support knowledge sharing and stakeholder engagement.
