About the position
The digital inclusion team is looking for a Field research assistant to support in leading all field data collection activities, organize and manage field activities/teams, documenting, assigning activities and generating reports on SOP and Bruno development processes. They will also support onboarding processes for new users/new breeding teams.
Key duties & responsibilities
- Lead all field data collection activities including designing and executing field trials, schedule data collection activities, develop and document all SOP and Bruno development related activities.
- Update and maintain knowledge base on SOP and Bruno development for onboarding of new users of digital AI tools
- Provide feedback to MLOPs team on SOP development and execution and image data quality.
- Collaborate with the product development and user research teams to test app model development and provide feedback on data collection flows.
- Support onboarding of new breeding teams within the CGIAR and NARS institutions on SOP development & execution as well as SOP and Bruno use
Requirements
Required qualifications and experience.
- A BSc in agronomy, plant breeding, or related agricultural fields
- Professional working proficiency in English
- Demonstrated experience in managing agronomy research trials, writing reports and leading field teams
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and stakeholders in the agricultural and research fields.
- Great organizational skills, including time management, and the ability to multitask.
- Basic knowledge and experience using data collection tools such as ODK and image data quality analysis
- Good understanding skill with Microsoft Office and related software (e.g. Excel, Google Sheets, Word, Google Docs, etc)

Terms of employment
This is a nationally recruited position based in Arusha, Tanzania. The initial contract will be for one year, subject to a probation period of three months and is renewable depending on performance and availability of resources.
This position is graded at BG05 level, with a minimum basic salary of TSH 2,700,000 in a scale of BG01 to BG14 (BG14 being the highest level according to the Alliance job classification framework policy).
