About Unisanté

The University Centre for primary care and public health (Unisanté) covers the entire healthcare chain, from primary care, care for vulnerable populations and occupational medicine, to health promotion and prevention, organization of the healthcare system, research and university teaching. Its aim is to maintain and improve the health of the regional population. Innovative and unique in Switzerland, it promotes interdisciplinarity and brings together expertise dedicated to addressing health challenges.

What it’s like to work here

Our Global and Environmental Health sector aims to promote the health of people living in or travelling to countries or territories, including Switzerland, affected by global risks such as emerging infectious diseases, climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, and shortages of medical staff, equipment and treatments. It provides routine vaccinations and pre-travel consultations (advice and vaccinations) for the population of Vaud. It offers tropical medicine consultations and care for patients returning from travel. It is responsible for undergraduate and postgraduate training for professionals and specialists in global and tropical health. The research carried out by the Tropical and Global Health group focuses on primary care and community health in Switzerland and Africa, and addresses the major global health challenges identified by the WHO, as well as the risks affecting the healthcare sector identified by the Canton of Vaud.

The institution employs around 1,000 people, including some 50 faculty members affiliated to the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the  University of Lausanne.
