Our Global and Environmental Health sector aims to promote the health of people living in or travelling to countries or territories, including Switzerland, affected by global risks such as emerging infectious diseases, climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, and shortages of medical staff, equipment and treatments. It provides routine vaccinations and pre-travel consultations (advice and vaccinations) for the population of Vaud. It offers tropical medicine consultations and care for patients returning from travel. It is responsible for undergraduate and postgraduate training for professionals and specialists in global and tropical health. The research carried out by the Tropical and Global Health group focuses on primary care and community health in Switzerland and Africa, and addresses the major global health challenges identified by the WHO, as well as the risks affecting the healthcare sector identified by the Canton of Vaud.
