Near East Foundation (NEF)

The Near East Foundation (NEF) is an international social and economic development organization headquartered in Syracuse, New York, United States. Founded in 1915 as the American Committee for Syrian and Armenian Relief, later Near East Relief, it took its current name in 1930 and has worked with communities in more than 40 countries. It works with local partners across the Middle East, Africa and the Caucasus, with team members in twelve countries, including Armenia, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco and Sudan.

NEF advertises vacancies on the Current Opportunities page of its website, which uses the BambooHR platform. Most openings are national positions in its country offices, such as project managers, loan officers and finance staff in Jordan, Morocco and Syria. NEF also offers part-time internships for students enrolled in degree programmes, usually posted in April for summer and July for autumn.

NEF staff design and manage projects on enterprise development, microfinance, livelihoods, climate resilience and civil society strengthening, working closely with local partners and community organizations. Most roles are national positions in country offices in cities such as Amman, Aleppo, Damascus and Marrakech, supported by a headquarters team in Syracuse, New York.
