International Medical Corps (IMC)

International Medical Corps is a humanitarian organization founded in 1984 by a group of volunteer doctors and nurses, and is headquartered in Los Angeles. It delivers emergency medical care and health services in conflict zones and after disasters, and works to rebuild the health systems it finds, training local health workers so that services outlast the emergency.

Its programmes cover primary and secondary health care, nutrition, mental health and psychosocial support, water and sanitation, and protection, including gender-based violence response.

The great majority of International Medical Corps staff are recruited nationally in the countries where it works, and its stated model is training and handover rather than permanent presence. Vacancies span clinical and public health roles, nutrition, mental health, WASH and protection, alongside the operations, logistics, security, finance and grants roles that keep an emergency response running.
