ALIMA (The Alliance for International Medical Action) (ALIMA)

ALIMA (The Alliance for International Medical Action) is a medical humanitarian non-governmental organization founded in 2009, with its operational headquarters in Dakar, Senegal. It works with national and local health authorities, local NGOs, communities and research institutes to provide care in epidemics, malnutrition, paediatrics, women’s health, mental health and surgery. In 2025 it ran 54 medical projects in 14 countries, mainly in West and Central Africa, along with Ethiopia, Sudan, South Sudan and Haiti.

ALIMA publishes vacancies on its recruitment site, alliance.alima.ngo, mostly in French. It recruits international staff for medical, paramedical and support roles in the field, headquarters staff in Dakar and Paris, and national health and support staff in countries of operation, who make up about 95 per cent of its teams. Internships are also advertised at headquarters.

ALIMA recruits medical and paramedical staff for its field projects, as well as logistics, finance, human resources and research personnel, often working alongside health ministries and local partner organizations. Field roles are based in projects in countries such as Burkina Faso, Chad, the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mali, Niger, Nigeria and Sudan, with headquarters and support functions in Dakar and Paris.
