AIDS Concern is the largest and longest-established HIV charity in Hong Kong and the biggest LGBT+ health NGO in the city.
Our vision at AIDS Concern is an ambitious one. We want to see an end to new HIV infections in Hong Kong by 2030 and to radically improve the health of LGBT+ people. To achieve this we work with the community to ensure people understand HIV and how to prevent it, we provide quality HIV testing, and we offer essential support services for people living with HIV. We are also developing a pioneering health service for LGBT+ people.
In Hong Kong LGBT+ people face stigma and discrimination every day of their lives and there are many health consequences for both physical and mental health. Young people afraid to come out to their families and friends. LGBT+ people experiencing loneliness, isolation and depression and the subsequent development of coping strategies which can lead to risk taking and addiction. By providing LGBT+ people with health services and support, we aim to help transform their life chances.
Our team of staff and volunteers and our deep connections into the community are what makes this work so exciting and possible.
The services provided by our My Place social enterprise include HIV self-testing, PrEP check-ups, STI screening and LGBT+ annual checkups. The team of medical professionals and staff at My Place are offering service to many community members and we expect this to grow.
We are looking for experienced and dynamic people to be join our team. If you think this might be you, then we would love to hear from you.
