AGRA (Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa) (AGRA)

AGRA, formerly the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa, is an African-led organization that works to build sustainable food systems by supporting smallholder farmers, agricultural policy, seed and input systems, and agribusiness. It was founded in 2006 with support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Rockefeller Foundation, and is headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya. Its work concentrates on a group of focus countries across East, West and Southern Africa, including Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Nigeria, Rwanda and Tanzania.

AGRA publishes vacancies on the Opportunities > Vacancies page of its website, alongside procurement notices and calls for concept notes. Positions include headquarters leadership and technical roles in Nairobi and country-level posts such as grants officers in focus countries. Much of AGRA’s programme work is delivered through grants to partners, so grant management is a recurring function.

AGRA staff work on agricultural policy, seed and fertilizer systems, market access, climate-resilient farming, and the management of grants to government, private-sector and civil-society partners. Roles cover programme and technical specialists, grants and finance officers, monitoring and evaluation, and executive support. Staff are based at the Nairobi headquarters or in country offices in AGRA’s African focus countries.
