Description
At the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group (WBG), you’ll join a diverse, global community working across cultures, disciplines, and borders to address the world’s most pressing development challenges. With 1.2 billion young people reaching working age in the decade ahead, the challenge of job creation has never been greater. Through partnerships across 145 countries and more than 182 offices worldwide, we work with governments, private sector, development partners and other stakeholders to invest in people, strengthen markets, and deliver scalable, data-driven solutions that generate more and better jobs and improve lives. In fiscal year 2026, IFC committed a record $105.6 billion to private companies and financial institutions in developing countries. For more information, visit www.ifc.org.
The Financial Institutions Group (FIG) is one of IFC’s major industry groups and is responsible for a significant share of IFC’s business globally. FIG engages across a wide range of sub-sectors including Microfinance, SME Finance, Gender, Climate, Insurance, Capital Markets, Housing, Distressed Assets, Global Trade Finance, and other financial sector activities. FIG provides investment and advisory solutions to financial institutions and market participants across emerging markets, helping them expand access to finance, strengthen sustainability practices, and contribute to economic growth. Advisory services are closely coordinated with investment operations and support clients in building capacity in areas such as sustainable finance, climate finance, risk management, governance, and capital market development.
Sustainable finance and the mobilization of private capital are strategic priorities of the World Bank Group. IFC is working with financial institutions, investors, stock exchanges, regulators, and private sector companies to help develop sustainable financial markets, increase climate-related investments, and strengthen the financial sector’s contribution to economic development and job creation.
As part of these efforts, the FIG LAC Advisory team is implementing several initiatives focused on sustainable finance, climate finance, corporate governance, and capital market development. These include IFC's 30by30 Mexico Program, which seeks to accelerate private sector climate finance through interventions across financial institutions, capital markets, and the broader enabling environment, as well as the Sustainable Capital Markets Program, a regional initiative aimed at expanding access to long-term financing for medium-sized companies and non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs) through stronger governance, greater transparency, improved disclosure standards, investor mobilization, and innovative capital market solutions.
The FIG Latin America and Caribbean Advisory team is seeking an Extended Term Consultant (ETC) to contribute to the implementation, coordination, and expansion of these initiatives and other advisory projects across the region. This posting is for one position posted across multiple possible duty stations that includes Mexico City and Panama City. The selected candidate's duty station will be determined based on organizational requirements and business needs. The ETC will work closely with IFC advisory and investment teams, clients, regulators, development partners, investors, and market participants to support the development of sustainable and inclusive financial markets.
The ETC will be part of the FIG LAC Advisory Services team and will support the design, implementation, coordination, monitoring, and business development of advisory projects focused on Sustainable finance and climate finance, Sustainable capital market development, and Financial institutions and non-bank financial institutions. The ETC will provide analytical, technical, operational, and project management support across multiple workstreams, with a primary focus on Mexico and selected regional initiatives across Latin America and the Caribbean. The ETC will report to the Senior Operations Officer leading the 30x30 and Sustainable Capital Markets Program, under the FIG LAC and Europe Advisory services Manager.
