Scope of work The WBG Knowledge Bank Gender department in Africa seeks an experienced Project Coordinator to provide on-the-ground coordination, leadership, and implementation support for IFC’s gender programs in the Africa Region. The role will ensure high-quality delivery of advisory services, analytics, peer-learning platforms, research, knowledge management, and communications, in line with approved Implementation Plans and regional priorities. The position will require close collaboration with Country Management Units, Industry Leads, Project Teams, external stakeholders, private-sector clients, the World Bank (IBRD), and other development finance institutions. The Project Coordinator will support the implementation of country-level gender projects that integrate gender considerations into IFC’s investment and advisory operations, with a particular focus on mobilizing private sector solutions that contribute to the jobs agenda across Africa. This role will be based in Lagos, Nigeria, and will directly report to the Gender Lead, Solutions Impact, Africa, with an indirect reporting line to the Senior Operations Officer, Gender Solutions and Impact, West Central Africa.

Roles and Responsibilities

Specific duties and accountabilities include, but are not limited to: Nigeria Gender Country Program Coordination and Management (70%)

• Maintain a program planner with a clear sight of key project milestones.
• Coordinate the day-to-day implementation of Care Works, Sourcing2Equal, and GBV activities (both pre-implementation and implementation) in Nigeria, ensuring timely delivery of project milestones and deliverables.
• Monitor project activities, outputs, outcomes, and indicators, and contribute to evaluation and impact assessment processes across Care Works, Sourcing2Equal, and GBV initiatives in Nigeria.
• Assist in preparing progress reports for IFC management, donors, clients, and partners, in compliance with IFC standards and donor requirements.
• Contribute to the development and update of tools, templates, lessons learned, and guidelines used across the gender program.
• Support the scheduling and organization of key meetings, including internal team meetings, external meetings, and key events.
• Facilitate engagement with internal stakeholders, partners, donors, or DFIs by coordinating meeting logistics, briefing materials, and follow‑up actions to ensure effective country-level alignment and communication.
• Conduct research and data analysis to inform project design, pipeline development, client engagements, and market-building activities related to childcare, gender-inclusive sourcing, supply chain finance, and financial abuse interventions.
• Coordinate partnership meetings and stakeholder engagement with companies, financial institutions, care entrepreneurs, industry associations, development partners, and internal teams to ensure effective alignment and communication across initiatives.
• Stay informed on industry trends, private sector practices, and emerging models related to childcare economy, family-friendly workplaces, gender-inclusive sourcing and distribution, supply chain finance, and solutions to address financial abuse.
• Support knowledge management, event logistics, and communications (program visibility) for stakeholders engaged under the Nigeria Gender Country Program. Thematic and Cross-regional Support - West and Central Africa - (30%) She Wins Africa
• Support the coordination of the day-to-day implementation of She Wins Africa Phase 2 activities (both pre-implementation and implementation) across Sub-Saharan Africa, ensuring timely delivery of project milestones and deliverables.
• Assist in preparing progress reports for IFC management, donors, clients, and partners, in compliance with IFC standards and donor requirements.
• Monitor project activities, outputs, outcomes, and indicators, and contribute to evaluation and impact assessment processes.
• Conduct research and data analysis to inform project design, pipeline development, and client engagements.
• Coordinate partnership meetings and internal stakeholder engagement to ensure effective alignment and communication across the She Wins Africa program.
• Stay informed on industry trends, SME acceleration practices, and emerging women empowerment models to enhance She Wins Africa.
• Support knowledge management, event logistics, and communications (program visibility) for stakeholders in Nigeria and in the rest of the Sub-Saharan countries where She Wins Africa will be active. Cross-Regional Support
• Provide operational support for gender projects in the West and Central Africa sub-region on a case-by-case basis.
• Support gender flagging processes for investment and advisory engagements by liaising with project teams across the West and Central Africa sub-region.
• Contribute to the development and update of tools, templates, and guidelines used across IFC’s gender programs.
• Facilitate engagement with internal stakeholders (IFC country and industry teams, as well as IBRD, MIGA), cross-regional partners, donors, or DFIs by coordinating meeting logistics, briefing materials, and follow‑up actions to ensure effective alignment.
• Identify pipeline opportunities in investment and advisory operations, and support client engagement by preparing pitch decks, conducting gender diagnostics, and providing implementation support tailored to client needs and priorities.
• Support the organization and delivery of regional events, knowledge management, peer learning platforms, workshops, trainings, and communications for gender projects in collaboration with gender colleagues in the West and Central Africa sub-region.
