Department Context:
ITS Operations and Country Engagement Department (ITSOE) delivers innovative products and services to frontline staff working on over 6,000 projects throughout every Region and Global Practice. Our teams support and enable Bank priorities, boost operations efficiency and effectiveness, and facilitate Operational knowledge discovery. Our delivery model leverages global expertise, design and architecture, leading technology, and robust processes to deliver business solutions that ensure value for Money.
Unit Context:
The ITS Country Engagement unit (ITSCE) delivers digital support for global and country-specific products aligned with the World Bank Group’s Country Engagement model, enabling task teams and Country Management Units (CMUs) to better plan, track, and manage operations. The unit brings together three core capability areas: Country Solutions, which focuses on delivering and evolving digital products that support country-facing operations; Geospatial Solutions, which provide GIS solutions and analytics to improve visibility and impact tracking; and AI Acceleration for Regional Operations, which advances scalable, secure, and cloud-based AI-enabled solutions through shared platforms for ideation, prototyping, and deployment.
The Business Management Officer enables effective execution of the ITSCE unit's strategic and operational priorities. Working across teams, portfolios, and stakeholders, the role supports planning, communications, decision-making, and organizational effectiveness.
The position coordinates activities across portfolios, stakeholder engagement, leadership communications, and operational excellence in support of World Bank priorities.
Key responsibilities
• Serve as a trusted advisor to the Unit Manager, driving execution of strategic priorities and ensuring alignment across initiatives, teams, and stakeholders.
• Coordinate and ensure timely execution of strategic initiatives, planning, reviews, and operational rhythms to support for a globally distributed team across time zones.
• Develop executive communications, briefings, presentations, management reports, and other materials for leadership, governance forums, and stakeholder engagement activities.
• Coordinate budget, workforce, and operational reporting activities in support of business objectives.
• Facilitate the unit’s collaboration across regional teams, Country Management Units, Global Practices, and ITS departments, managing dependencies and helping resolve operational challenges.
• Suggest and lead the implementation of improved operating models and good practices.
• Support business outreach activities, such as workshops, demonstrations, communities of practice, and stakeholder engagement to advance awareness and adoption of digital solutions for World Bank Group operations.
• Enable operational excellence through effective planning, coordination, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement.
Selection Criteria
• Master's degree with at least five (5) years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree with at least seven (7) years of relevant experience.
• Proven experience supporting strategic planning, operational management, program coordination, and organizational effectiveness initiatives.
• Experience coordinating complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders across teams, functions, geographies, partner organizations, and external stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of digital solutions development, teams’ orchestration, and country engagement processes, portfolio management, and business delivery models within large international organizations.
• Experience supporting country-facing operations, business enablement functions, or operational delivery models within an MDB, international organization, public sector institution, or similarly complex environment would be an advantage.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing presentations, briefing materials, executive communications, and management reports.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deliverables, deadlines, and dependencies.
• Strong collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries.
• Experience supporting business reviews, and leadership decision-making processes.
• Strong familiarity with digital transformation initiatives, Agile ways of working, and technology-enabled business solutions.
• Experience organizing workshops, demonstrations, conferences, communities of practice, stakeholder engagement, and outreach activities.
• Demonstrated sense of urgency, accountability, execution focus, and commitment to operational excellence.
• Proficiency in English.
