Mission and objectives

GLOWA fights against human trafficking and the damage it creates in our communities throughout the Northwest region of Cameroon through community education to prevent trafficking, support for victims, and advocacy on their behalf. Through these works, GLOWA aims to nurture a culture of respect for human rights, particularly those of children and women, in the region and fight against the systematic abuses faced by the most vulnerable.

Context

Global Welfare Association (GLOWA) is a survivor-led community protection and development organization based in Bamenda, North-West Region of Cameroon. GLOWA works to protect vulnerable children and women, promote access to education, and strengthen community resilience. This online volunteering assignment supports GLOWA’s **One Book, Many Futures: Girls in STEM** initiative, which addresses barriers faced by girls in conflict-affected and economically vulnerable communities in accessing textbooks and STEM learning resources. Through a community Book Bank, group learning activities, parent and community engagement, and education-related child protection awareness, the project seeks to improve girls’ access to learning opportunities and strengthen support for their educational progress. The volunteer will contribute remotely by supporting digital awareness campaign planning, developing communication materials and disseminating campaign messages. GLOWA will provide project information, guidance, relevant communication materials and coordination support. The assignment is suitable for volunteers interested in girls’ education, STEM, digital communications and community development.
