Posting Title: Manager, CoP Data Visualization Product Owner, Programmes Location: New York, NY; hybrid arrangement (2 days/week in office minimum) Duration: 6-month position

--------------------- POSITION SUMMARY The UN Global Compact (UNGC) is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, with more than 20,000 companies across 160 countries committed to building a better future. To carry out its mission, the UNGC runs programs with two main objectives:

  1. Help participant companies align their strategies with the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact; a set of guidance measures that address corporate performance on human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption.
  2. Encourage members to work toward broader societal goals, such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals The Communication on Progress (CoP) is UNGC’s flagship reporting mechanism to assure accountability of Compact participants in making progress towards implementing the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact. UNGC’s reporting obligation includes an objective questionnaire of member performance and a digital platform to collect and showcase data publicly. The Communication on Progress sits at the heart of the UNGC strategy, and success of this questionnaire and platform is critical to the success of adjacent programs. The United Nations Global Compact is seeking the support of a temporary, Manager-level contractor to focus on the following: • Data product owner: Support the evaluation, reporting, visualization and sharing of data coming from the Communication on Progress;

  • Digital strategy: Deliver next phases of data visualization product roadmap and serve as a bridge between the CoP, Data and Digital teams;
  • Go-to-market strategy: Drive and support adoption of CoP data and the data visualization product among Compact participants, internal stakeholders and strategic partners in and outside of the UN system;
  • Data analysis: Leverage CoP data to define additional use cases and inform organizational strategy, conduct applied statistical analysis (e.g., addressing outliers, selecting appropriate means and comparisons), and identify the most effective visualization methods, with support from topic experts.

This individual would report to the Head of Reporting and work closely with other members of the UNGC Reporting team and functions such as the Data and Digital teams, Marketing and Communications, Programmes, and Measurement & Evaluation to understand the impact from the data collected via the CoP. In addition to driving product enhancements and strategy, tasks would include defining approaches to evaluate and analyze CoP data and communicate results through written reports and marketing materials and may change depending on shifting priorities. This role will also assist in applying a data lens to the UNGC Programmes strategy and supporting work with topic experts on the Programmes team. This position would also engage Compact business participants as well as UN and other strategic partners. This is a unique opportunity to help to execute a key strategic initiative. It also provides exposure to the United Nations – specifically mechanisms for businesses to contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals – and the corporate sustainability landscape.
