The UN Women Jordan Country Office is one of four countries alongside Morocco, Egypt and Tunisia that constitute the first cohort that will implement The Surging Women’s Employment Flagship Initiative (SWEI) Programme. The programme aims at increasing women’s employment by 5% by 2030 through innovative and collaborative approaches across governments, international financial institutions, the private sector, UN agencies, NGOs, and media with focus on the Green, STEM, and Care Economies (SWEI). The Private Sector Development Analyst will contribute to the effective management and implementation of the flagship initiative, by focusing on increasing decent employment opportunities for women through improving gender responsive workplaces and transformative partnerships with the private sector.
The work of the Private Sector Development Analyst is to scale the foundational work achieved in Jordan on the Women’s Empowerment Principles and ensure UN Women’s engagement on the WEPs implementation in the MENA region is further aligned with SWEI’s 5% employment goal. This includes defining a partnership approach that moves from transactional (activity-based) partnerships towards value-creating and innovative partnership approaches with the private sector, leveraging critical partners working towards similar goals. It also includes a strong, gender responsive private sector development approach to support companies in achieving a sustained increase in women’s employment before 2030.
Reporting to the WEE/SWEI Programme Specialist, the Private Sector Development Analyst contributes to the effective management of UN Women SWEI initiative by providing substantive inputs to programme design, formulation, implementation and evaluation. The Private Sector Development Analyst guides and facilitates the delivery of UN Women’s work with the private sector by monitoring results achieved during implementation and ensuring appropriate application of systems and procedures and develops enhancements if necessary. The Private Sector Development Analyst works in close collaboration with the programme and operations team, UN Women HQ personnel, the UN Women Regional Office for Arab States, Government officials, multi and bi-lateral donors, private sector and civil society ensuring successful UN Women programme implementation under portfolio.
Key Functions and Accountabilities:
1. Contribute technically to the development of programme strategies in the area of engagement with the private sector
2. Provide substantive technical support for the implementation and management of programmes and interventions for the engagement with the private sector programme and WEPs signatories
3. Provide technical assistance and capacity development to project/programme partners for the engagement with the private sector to enhance women’s economic empowerment and participation in the labour market:
4. Provide technical inputs to the monitoring and reporting of the programme and interventions for the engagement with the private sector and WEPs singatories
5. Provide substantive technical inputs to the management of people and finances of the engagement with the private sector programme
6. Provide substantive inputs to building partnerships and resource mobilization strategies
7. Provide technical support to inter-agency coordination on engagement with the private sector to achieve coherence and alignment of UN Women programmes with other partners in the country
8. Provide substantive inputs to advocacy, knowledge building and communication efforts
9.The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organisation.
