SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association which, since more than 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their basic needs for food, water and shelter. Particularly committed to the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death in the world, SI's interventions provide expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, but also in the essential area of food security and livelihoods. Present in 26 countries, the SI teams – 3200 people in total, made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at HQ, and a few volunteers - intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultural norms.

About the mission

Present and operational in Venezuela since the end of 2019, Solidarites International initially started working in Caracas, but later launched water, sanitation and hygiene (WaSH) activities in the city of Barquisimeto, Lara state. We expanded then interventions to the states of Falcón and Sucre. In 2021, Food Security and Livelihoods activities started also in Barquisimeto. Since then, operations grew steadily in the states of Sucre, Bolivar, Táchira y Apure. Although projects today are focused on WaSH, we are progressively developing protection and health components and planning to extend in new intervention areas.

Ongoing projects: BHA 3261 (Bolivar and Delta Amacuro), ECHO 3636 (Sucre. MdM as lead of the consortium). COST EXTENSION BHA 3261 approved until 30.06.2026 with a NCE until 30.09.2026. About the job

General objective:

As part of the coordination team and reporting to the Country Director, the Grant Manager is the mission’s focal point on ensuring accountability to donors.

He/she is in charge of: Monitoring and identifying funding opportunities in line with SI country and global strategy / Overseeing compilation of timely and high quality proposals, reports / Monitoring compliance with donor procedures throughout the grant cycle and building capacity of staff on internal accountability tools and donor procedures / Proactively following-up on donor contractual obligations, and ensuring contractual obligations are known and understood by relevant departments / Centralizing relevant documentation for external audits and audit report archiving.

The main challenges:

High level of autonomy required for the position
Need for strong mastery of SI processes, in a context where teams are largely externally recruited or recently hired within SI
Challenging donor environment, not fully aligned with SI’s usual operating framework
Need to identify and develop donor opportunities adapted to the Latin American context
Need for strengthened program strategy support to guide fundraising efforts

Priorities for the 2/3 first months:

Proposals and reporting: Resond to funding opportunities for our emergency reponse. Ensure timely donor reports.
Donor engagement: meet with donors and partners / update Annex 5
Audit: coordinate with HQ focal point to get overview of audits to come.
Partnerships: communicate with partners during the porposal development and implementation phases.

Security constraints:

The security context is complex in Venezuela but is overall considered as calm with, however. criminal risks in specific areas. The authorities have a strong presence throughout the country and are very wary about international organizations. It is important to remain calm and to ensure good communication. The context of living in Carcas is good. It will be necessary to remain vigilant to the good respect of security rules especially while travelling to remote areas and/or specific areas of thats zones.
Nonetheless, within the limitation of the safety minimum requirements, one can easily enjoy living in Caracas, week-ends and/or vacations in other areas including specific mountain cities, beaches and nature. There is a vibrant expatriate community in the zone.
