What You'll DoRTI is seeking qualified Logistics Assistant/Driver candidates for a five-year U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food for Progress (FFPr) program in Ethiopia. The program applies a market-driven, U.S.-led value chain approach to transform Ethiopia’s sunflower sector and benefit U.S. businesses by addressing key productivity, market linkage, financing, and policy constraints identified by public and private actors. The Logistics Assistant/Driver will support project operations by providing reliable driving services, assisting with transport coordination, managing stores and office supplies, maintaining vehicle records, and providing general logistics and administrative support to staff, partners, and short-term consultants. Your primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to: Transport and Vehicle Management Provide safe, reliable, and professional transportation services for project staff, partners, visitors, and authorized consultants within the city and to regional field locations, in accordance with RTI policies and applicable traffic laws and regulations.Collect and deliver goods, mail, documents, and other itemsMeet official personnel at the airport and facilitate immigration and customs formalities as requiredTake care of the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned means of transport, check oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc. perform minor repairs and arrange for other repairs and ensure that the vehicle is kept clean.Log official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc.Read and understand specific vehicle/vessel operating manual to ensure the safe and appropriate operations of the vehicle.Obey traffic rules and Road Signs, Negotiate, liaise, and coordinate with local authorities to facilitate smooth running of vehicle/vessel movements.Ensure that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accidentProduce weekly records of mileage traveled and tonnage moved.Identify any apparent problems during field deliveries and report them to the appropriate personnel. Store, Inventory, and Office Supplies Management Receiving, storing, issuing, and safeguarding inventory and equipment. Maintaining bin cards. Preparing equipment release forms. Recording inventory movements. Updating inventory records following approved transactions. Monitoring stock levels and informing the supervisor when replenishment is needed. Supporting periodic physical inventory counts.Supported routine field visit documentation by taking photographs and assisting with basic data collection, as assigned.Assisted with workshop logistics, including participant registration and attendance tracking. Provided logistical support during field visits and workshops.Maintain professional communication and coordination with project staff, partners, visitors, vendors, and service providers. Compliance, Safety, and Representation Adhere to RTI policies, operational procedures, safety standards, and applicable local regulations in all logistics, transport, and store management activities. Promptly inform the HR and Admin Officer and Finance and Admin Manager of accidents, breakdowns, mechanical failures, faulty equipment, or suspected defective equipment, as required by RTI’s Operations Manual. Always represent the project professionally by being responsive, courteous, and service-oriented with staff, visitors, clients, and partners. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. What You'll NeedRequired Skills and Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent and at least three years of relevant experience, including professional driving experience. Valid driving license with a clean and safe driving record. Demonstrated experience supporting transport, logistics, store, inventory, procurement or office supplies management activities.
