Duties and Responsibilities

Daily responsibilities of the intern will depend on the individual's background and may include, but are not limited to: • Supporting the photographic and video documentation of events, activities and official engagements of the Office. • Assisting in the selection, editing and organization of photographic and visual materials. • Supporting the development of visual content for communication and outreach purposes. • Assisting in maintaining and organizing photo and video archives and related materials. • Supporting coordination related to public information and communication activities, as required. • Performing other duties as requested by the supervisor, as appropriate.

Qualifications/special skills

Academic Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). Academic background in communications, photography, video, audiovisual production or related fields is desirable

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written Spanish is required for the internship. Knowledge of English or another official United Nations language is an advantage.

Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken, may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization. Successful candidates should discuss their specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
