Mission and objectives

The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is the leading UN entity on human rights. OHCHR’s mission is to work for the protection of all human rights for all people; to help empower people to realize their rights; and to assist those responsible for upholding such rights in ensuring that they are implemented.

Context

The Online UN Volunteer for social media will support the OHCHR New York Office in implementing its communications and advocacy activities. Working closely with the Public Information Officer (PIO), the volunteer will contribute to the creation of social media posts to give visibility to the work of the UN Human Rights Office in New York.

Task Description

The OHCHR New York Office is seeking one (1) Online Volunteer who, under the guidance of the Public Information Officer and in close collaboration with relevant colleagues, will support the production of visual communications materials. In particular, the Online Volunteer will be asked to:

• Create draft designs based on agreed communications requirements and discuss concepts with the focal point;
• Develop and revise visual products in accordance with feedback and approved specifications;
• Produce design and layout for social media assets and event materials;
• The Online Volunteer will support the production of up to five visual graphic designs in total during the assignment. All design products should follow OHCHR's visual identity and branding guidelines, which will be shared with the Online Volunteer.
