As part of its work to save lives, protect people on the move, and facilitate safe and regular migration pathways, IOM in Viet Nam supports the Government of Viet Nam and social organization partners in countering trafficking in person (TIP), human smuggling and irregular migration. This work is undertaken across IOM’s Border Governance and Migrant Protection portfolios, with a focus on generating and using evidence to understand emerging risks, trends and information needs; inform targeted community outreach and awareness-raising activities; promote safe migration practices; and reduce migrants’ vulnerability to exploitation and abuse.
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and direct supervision of the National Communications Officer, in coordination with relevant project units, the Project Associate will support migration trend analysis and community engagement activities under IOM Viet Nam’s counter trafficking and border governance programme. In particular, the incumbent will conduct social listening and digital ethnography to identify emerging trends, analyze findings and prepare reports and other knowledge products; and use these insights to support the design and implementation of targeted community outreach activities that promote safe migration and reduce risks of human trafficking and human smuggling.
