Job Description

We improve lives

IDB Invest is the private sector arm of the IDB Group committed to supporting the sustainable development of Latin America and the Caribbean through the private sector. Our mission is to finance, structure, and mobilize capital for companies and projects that support economic growth, resilience, and long-term development across the region.

IDB Invest operates in 26 countries, structured across four geographic regions and three industry verticals: Infrastructure and Energy, Financial Institutions, and Corporates.

As part of its evolving business model, “Originate to Share,” IDB Invest is expanding its capacity to mobilize private capital and scale development impact across Latin America and the Caribbean, supported by a $3.5 billion capitalization from its shareholders. The model strengthens IDB Invest’s ability to originate high-quality assets, structure innovative financial solutions, and connect global capital with opportunities across the region.

About this position

As IDB Invest scales up its operations under “Originate to Share,” the International Business Office (IBO) is strengthening the coordination, consistency, and institutional knowledge behind its work across regions. You will report to the Managing Director in charge of International Business at the Industries and Cross-Cutting Themes Department (ICT).

The Industries and Cross Cutting Themes Department (ICT) manages business and client engagement from an industry perspective. It is composed of six divisions: three focused on core industries (Infrastructure and Energy, Financial Institutions, and Corporates); two focused on cross-cutting themes (Climate and Environment and Economic Opportunities); and one dedicated to Portfolio Management. Together, these divisions support the implementation of IDB Invest’s mandate by providing sectoral expertise, thematic leadership, and strategic portfolio oversight across the institution.

You will work closely with the Managing Director and the International Business Officers (IBOs) based across regions, acting as a catalyst of opportunities to teams so that priorities, initiatives, and information flow smoothly across the IBO network. You will also help identify needs that recur across regions and turn proven practices into tools and templates the whole team can use.

What you’ll do

Cross-Team and Cross-Regional Liaison

  • Serve as the main point of coordination between the Managing Director, IBO Officers, and other departments and regional teams, keeping priorities aligned and information flowing across the network.
  • Facilitate communication and follow-up across teams so that cross-cutting work and shared priorities move forward without duplication or gaps.
  • Represent the IBO team in working groups, coordination meetings, and cross-departmental initiatives.

Cross-Cutting Initiative Support

  • Support the design, coordination, and execution of initiatives that span multiple regions, divisions, or business lines.
  • Track progress, deadlines, and dependencies across initiatives, flagging risks and bottlenecks to the Managing Director and IBO Officers.
  • Coordinate inputs from multiple stakeholders into cohesive deliverables, such as reports, presentations, and briefing notes.

Needs Identification and Process Improvement

  • Identify recurring needs, pain points, or gaps that surface across different regions or teams, and bring them forward as opportunities for a shared solution.
  • Analyze how similar challenges are being addressed in different regions to propose common approaches rather than one-off fixes and translate identified needs into concrete, actionable recommendations.

Templates, Tools, and Institutional Knowledge

  • Develop templates, guides, and tools based on practices that have proven to work well, so they can be reused consistently across teams and regions.
  • Maintain and continuously refine a repository of institutional knowledge, references, and know-how for the IBO team.
  • Onboard and orient new team members on IBO processes, tools, and ways of working.

Strategic and Operational Support to the Managing Director and IBO Officers

  • Prepare briefing materials, talking points, and summary notes to support decision-making, client engagement, and internal reporting.
  • Help prioritize and track follow-up on key commitments and action items on behalf of the Managing Director and IBO Officers.
  • Use CRM and market intelligence tools to keep pipeline and activity information current and consistent across regions.
  • Support the preparation of reports and briefings for Senior Management on planning, progress, and results.

What you'll need

Education: An advanced degree (Master’s, MBA, or equivalent) in Business Administration, Finance, Communications, International Relations, or a related field.

Experience: You have at least five (5) years of relevant professional experience in business coordination, strategic planning, program or project management, or communications, ideally within a financial institution, development bank, or international organization. Proven track record coordinating across teams and stakeholders, synthesizing information from multiple sources, and turning ad hoc practices into scalable tools and processes. Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills are essential.

Technical Skills: Solid understanding of knowledge management and CRM tools, strong writing, editing, and presentation skills, and the ability to translate complex or technical content for varied audiences. Familiarity with IDB Invest’s business model (originate-to-share, mobilization, blended finance, upstream) is a plus.

Languages: Proficiency in English is required. Proficiency in Spanish, French or Portuguese would be considered a plus.

Requirements

Citizenship: No requirements

Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

Type of contract and duration

International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
