The Immunobiology, Nutrition and Toxicology under the Nutrition Research Division conducts multiple research projects. Among the ongoing studies, the GEOHealth study examines the impact of air pollution on cardiopulmonary health among rural women and children.

Key Responsibilities:

The Study Physician will report to the Principal Investigator. The major areas of responsibilities include:

• Maintain liaison with PI & Study coordinator for proper implementation of the study; update PI and Study coordinator regularly on various issues, clinical findings and resolve queries;
• Conduct eligibility assessment, obtain consent from the enrolled patients; collect clinical history of participant; motivate and counsel participants to maintain adherence and remain engaged throughout the study period;
• Supervise the field team to implement field activities at the 2 study sites;
• Perform ECG; review and interpret ECG and spirometry reports for any abnormalities. Extract and maintain data from various medical devices (i.e. ECG devices and Easy One Air for spirometry) for further analysis;
• Communicate with hospital consultants to discuss and validate abnormal or clinically significant findings from ECG and spirometry;
• Review blood pressure, height, weight, other anthropometric parameters and fasting blood glucose measurements;
• Provide appropriate advice to participants. Coordinate with internal labs for timely analysis of specimens, compile and update Lab results;
• Provide medical advice, prescriptions, or referrals to appropriate clinics/consultants when clinically indicated, particularly during emergencies;
• Prepare reports (i.e. Severe adverse events), presentation slides (i.e. to be presented in the ethics board)
• Provide health-related advice and address participants' health concerns during focus group discussions.

Required qualifications and experience:

• MBBS degree from a Medical College recognized by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council with completion of one-year internship training;
• 1 year of relevant experience including experience in Clinical trials, respiratory medicine, CVD.

Location: Dhaka with frequent visits to study field sites.

Contract Type and Duration:

• Contractual Services Agreement basis (CSA); duration will be 6 months with a possibility of extension subject to performance.

Salary & benefits:

• Tk. 96,120/- per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
• Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen; Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
