Job Description

ECHA/TRN/ 2027/020 – Industry Support and SMEs (K1) The Industry Support and SMEs Unit - in the Directorate of SMEs, Industry Support and Submissions of the Agency – gives advice to industry, inter alia, on the BPR, CLP, PIC, SCIP and REACH regulations, supports stakeholders on the use of ECHA’s IT Tools, and provides the Secretariat to the BPR, CLP and REACH Helpdesks' Network (HelpNet). It also manages the 6 th IPA project, part of the Instrument for Pre-accession for EU candidate and pre-candidate countries with the objective to support them in the preparation and harmonisation of chemicals legislation. The Unit also harbours the ECHA Information Desk which acts as a front desk for mail and phone calls to the Agency. Assignment The trainee will work in the Regulatory Support Team (REST) , a team of 12 colleagues. REST is responsible for (i) providing stakeholders with regulatory advice through the HelpDesk, (ii) managing the HelpNet Secretariat, (iii) providing coordination for ECHA’s guidance and support materials and (iv) supporting SMEs through the SME Support Coordination Centre. The IPA project also falls under REST.

The trainee will participate in the following tasks:

  • Assist the team in replying to questions from stakeholders on relevant legislations such as REACH, BPR (Biocidal Product Regulation) and DWD (Drinking Water Directive);
  • Provide technical and administrative support to the Helpnet Secretariat and support during meetings and workshops;
  • Contribute to the development of the internal knowledge base and supporting documents;
  • Contribute to the review of regulatory Q&As published on the ECHA web site; and
  • Provide support for the other activities of the team, such as guidance coordination and SME support.

Profile

  • Completed or undergoing university studies;
  • Good experience in using MS Office tools;
  • Good drafting skills;
  • Fluency in English both written and spoken (as this is the working language of the Agency);
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks independently and with little direction;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and
  • Aptitude for collaborating with different stakeholders.

Assets

  • Knowledge of the requirements under the relevant EU legislations;
  • A good command of additional EU languages ;
  • Experience in working in a multicultural and dynamic environment;
  • Familiarity with ECHA IT tools - AI.

Starting Date: 1 March 2027 Duration: 6 months
