IFC’s Environmental and Social (E&S) team is seeking a YP as part of the WBG Young Professionals Program, to provide support to the E&S regional team on E&S risk management IFC Performance Standards with the aim of promoting compliance with IFC’s E&S standards and enhanced impact and additionality of IFC -supported investments. The role will work across both direct investments (loans, equity etc.) as well as E&S risk management on public private partnership (PPP) projects. What You’ll Deliver The E&S YP will work under the leadership and guidance of an E&S specialist and will support E&S investment / PPP Advisory due diligence and portfolio monitoring as follows:

YPs join the World Bank Group on an initial two-year term contract, renewable subject to satisfactory performance. During this period, YPs complete three eight-month rotations: one with their primary function and area of expertise, one cross-institutional rotation, and at least one rotation based in a country office. These assignments enable YPs deepen their technical and operational knowledge while gaining experience across different areas of the institution.
Through the YP Academy, YPs undertake a structured learning and development journey that includes technical and operational training, language programs, negotiation and business skills, and leadership development. They also receive individual coaching, connect with mentors, and participate in strategic dialogues with senior leaders.
Due Diligence and Risk Screening
• Support the identification and assessment of environmental and social (E&S) risks and potential mitigation measures during IFC investment and advisory due diligence.
• Review project documentation and assist with client interviews alongside E&S Specialists.
• Review E&S documentation, impact assessments, management plans etc. for consistency with IFC Performance Standards, accurateness, and completeness.
• Analyze qualitative and quantitative data and input E&S information into IFC internal systems (e.g., SRT, iPortal, ESGDocs).
• Utilize external tools and data sources (e.g., RepRisk, iBAT, contextual risk assessments) to support risk analysis and development of recommendations.
• Help ensure completeness, quality, and consistency of due diligence records and documentation.
Portfolio Monitoring and Support
• Assist in monitoring the implementation of E&S action plans by IFC clients.
• Support supervision activities, including client site visits and reviews of E&S Annual Monitoring Reports.
• Maintain and update databases, project documentation, and records in a timely manner
• Contribute to portfolio-level reporting and analytics.
• Candidates must hold, or complete by the September start date, a master’s degree or PhD background in environmental sciences, engineering, international development, social sciences, biodiversity/ecology, anthropology, or related disciplines.
• 2–6 years of relevant professional experience.
• Strong interest in development work and creating positive environmental and social impact

• Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in diverse, team-based environments.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities within tight deadlines.
• Proficiency in English; fluency in French and additional languages is considered an advantage.
• International mobility without restrictions.
