VPU Overview The Development Economics Vice Presidency (DEC) is the World Bank’s central reservoir of fresh insights into the most pressing challenges of development. It is led by the Chief Economist and Senior Vice President of the World Bank Group, who advises the President and senior managers, serves as the community leader for the WBG’s economists, and helps to keep the institution in the forefront of thinking about development policy. DECRG experts are often cited by the media, the academic community, and other stakeholders interested in international development. DECRG provides high-quality economic data, analysis, research, and training to the World Bank Group and its partners. Its research programs generate and disseminate knowledge about development policies critical to achieving the Bank’s overarching goal of poverty reduction. Within DECRG, the Global Findex team manages a unique and comprehensive database on how adults save, borrow, make payments, and manage financial risk. The Global Findex is the world’s most comprehensive source of comparable data on financial inclusion, covering more than 140 economies over multiple waves. Since its launch in 2011, five rounds of data have been published, with the most recent round collected in 2024. Data collection for the sixth round is expected to begin in early 2027. The team seeks an Extended-Term Consultant (ETC) to serve as a Data Analyst. The consultant will contribute to all data-related operations for the Global Findex, including database and management, visualization and analytical outputs, and website maintenance. Duties and accountabilities: We are seeking a motivated and highly skilled candidate with strong experience in data management, data analytics, and data visualization. The selected candidate will:

• Support all data management operations for the Global Findex, including cleaning, documentation, harmonization, and preparation of large-scale survey data from the Global Findex database and Gallup World Poll.
• Develop and maintain efficient, reproducible coding workflows in R and/or Stata, including implementing process improvements that enhance analytical efficiency and transparency.
• Conduct econometric and descriptive analysis using Global Findex data and effectively communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Support drafting—and producing reproducibility code, when necessary—for reports, regional notes, policy briefs, blogs, and presentations based on Global Findex data.
• Create high-quality data visualizations (charts, tables, graphs) to support publications and presentations.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to produce policy-relevant outputs and respond to data and analytical requests.
• Manage the Global Findex website: update the homepage carousel with current publications and events, add pages for newly published Notes and blogs, convert PDFs to HTML (including interactive Flourish figures), and troubleshoot issues with data and visualization pages.
• Create and embed data dashboards in online publications, making it easier for readers to download underlying data and replicate figures fr selected country samples.
