• Manage platform upgrades, patches, transport, performance tuning, and capacity planning. • Ensure platform availability, resiliency, scalability, and operational stability. • Perform professional-level analysis and platform engineering activities across data and analytics platforms. • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to define solutions and drive continuous improvement. • Apply practical expertise across data platforms, analytics architecture, cloud technologies, integration, security, and operational support. • Support incident response, root cause analysis, and issue remediation activities. • Monitor platform health, data loads, and integration performance. • Ensure reporting platform performance, reliability, and operational excellence. • Support security reviews, vulnerability remediation, and platform hardening activities. • Maintain appropriate controls for access management, data protection, and system integrity. • Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, Scrum Masters, and Engineering teams to prioritize platform improvements. • Support continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.Do you want to build a career that is truly worthwhile? For more information on ITS, see this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&v=VTFGffa1Y7wUnit ContextThe ITS Financial Technology (ITSFT) unit enables critical Finance and Accounting functions through enterprise platforms supporting financial management, accounting, budgeting, reporting, analytics, external reporting, trust fund management, lending operations, and institutional performance management.The unit manages and modernizes enterprise data and analytics platforms including SAP BW, SAP Business Objects, Azure-based data platforms, and reporting solutions while supporting strategic initiatives related to data modernization, cloud adoption, operational reporting, compliance, and financial transparency.Duties and AccountabilitiesRole PurposeThe Platform Engineer (SAP BW & Data Platform) is responsible for the engineering, administration, modernization, and operational excellence of the World Bank Group's enterprise analytics and data platforms.The role supports SAP BW on HANA, Business Objects, SAP data integration technologies, Azure-based data platforms, and enterprise reporting solutions. The Platform Engineer collaborates with product owners, architects, data engineers, business stakeholders, and infrastructure teams to ensure platform reliability, performance, scalability, security, governance, and continuous improvement.The position contributes to the evolution of enterprise analytics capabilities through automation, modernization initiatives, cloud adoption, DevOps practices, observability, and platform engineering principles, enabling trusted and timely business insights across financial and operational domains.Advertisement Key ResponsibilitiesSAP BW Platform Engineering• Administer, maintain, and optimize SAP BW on HANA environments.• Support business-critical financial and operational reporting processes.• Support BW upgrade, modernization and migration initiatives, including cloud and next-generation analytics platforms.• Solve moderately complex platforms, integration, performance, and operational challenges.• Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing within the platform engineering and analytics delivery teams.Integration & Data Operations• Manage SAP BW, SAP ECC, SAP BODS, and related enterprise data integrations.• Collaborate with upstream and downstream application teams to ensure reliable data movement and processing.Analytics & Reporting Platforms• Support Business Objects, Power BI, Bex, Analysis for Office and enterprise reporting solutions.• Partner with business stakeholders to enable trusted, timely, and scalable reporting capabilities.Advertisement Security, Risk & Compliance• Ensure compliance with World Bank security, audit, data governance, and operational risk requirements.• Participate in audit response and compliance remediation efforts.Agile Delivery & Collaboration• Participate in SAFe Agile ceremonies including PI Planning, Iteration Planning, Reviews, and Retrospectives.• Contribute to backlog refinement and technical roadmap planning.
Selection Criteria
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale analytics, reporting, and data platforms. • Experience with enterprise data integration, analytics modernization, and cloud data platform technologies. Advanced analytical, problem-solving, communication, and Agile delivery skills, with the ability to effectively manage stakeholders, influence decisions, and foster collaboration across cross-functional teams to achieve business and technology objectives.Education & Experience• Master's degree with 5 years of relevant experience or Bachelor's degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience in enterprise data platforms, SAP BW, data engineering, analytics platforms, or related disciplines.• Experience with SAP BW on HANA administration, development support, and platform operations.Core Skills and CapabilitiesStrong expertise in SAP BW on HANA, SAP BODS, data platform engineering, data warehousing, analytics, integration, and enterprise reporting, complemented by hands-on experience with Azure Databricks and cloud-based data platforms. Skilled in platform operations, DevOps, database management, security, governance, monitoring, and modern data architecture practices to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure enterprise analytics solutions.Recommended CertificationsSAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM), SAP BW, Databricks Data Engineer Certification, TOGAF Certification
