Through partnerships across 145 countries and more than 182 offices worldwide, we work with governments, private sector, development partners and other stakeholders to invest in people, strengthen markets, and deliver scalable, data-driven solutions that generate more and better jobs and improve lives. For more information, visit https://www.worldbank.org/en/who-we-are/ibrd The World Bank’s Fiscal Policy and Growth team for Ukraine is delivering a comprehensive work program that encompasses macroeconomic monitoring, policy-based budget support operations and policy dialogue to support economic reforms, analytical and policy work, and technical assistance programs on a broad range of macro-fiscal issues. As the country context is extremely dynamic, a significant portion of the work is just-in-time in nature. To support an expanding work program, the team is recruiting an economic analyst as an extended-term consultant to support the delivery of the work program. The consultant would be based in the World Bank Ukraine country office in Kyiv, together with the Lead Economist and local Senior Country Economist for Ukraine. The successful candidate is expected to undertake the following tasks:

  • Contribute to macroeconomic projections and scenario development using the World Bank's MFMod framework.
  • Undertake fiscal analysis, including updating the debt sustainability analysis.
  • Prepare analytical inputs to the team's regular and corporate products, such as the Macro Poverty Outlook, and to briefings for World Bank management and external stakeholders.
  • Lead or contribute to analytical modules within the team's analytical and policy work on growth, structural and macro-fiscal issues. This includes designing research outlines, conducting empirical analysis, synthesizing existing evidence, and identifying policy options.
  • Oversee the maintenance of economic databases including public and non-public data sources.
  • Support the design, preparation and supervision of policy-based budget support operations, including by coordinating with World Bank sectoral teams.
  • Maintain relationships with government counterparts, development partners, think tanks and CSOs, private sector and other economic policy stakeholders in Ukraine.
