For more information, visit www.worldbank.org The World Bank Independent Evaluation Group (IEG) is responsible for evaluating the activities of the World Bank Group institutions. The Director-General of IEG reports directly to the World Bank Group's Board of Directors. The goals of evaluation are to provide an objective assessment of the results of the World Bank Group’s work and to identify and disseminate lessons learned from experience. IEG’s secondary mandate concerns “encouraging and assisting developing member countries to build effective monitoring and evaluation associations, capacities and systems”. IEG has a long-standing track record and strong reputation in evaluation capacity development globally. Since 2000, IEG’s evaluation capacity development (ECD) program has supported institutions and practitioners across the developing world, through dedicated learning products and studies; the International Program for Development Evaluation Training (IPDET), established in the early 2000s; the CLEAR centers, launched in the early 2010s; and other initiatives and partnerships. In 2020, IEG, in collaboration with its partners, founded the Global Evaluation Initiative (GEI). GEI pursues ECD through the lens of M E systems strengthening, with the objective to improve monitoring and evaluation frameworks, capacity, and use in supported developing countries for improved evidence-informed policy making. GEI’s approach, therefore, also addresses the broader institutional architecture, political economy, and network of actors in which M E functions operate. Within this broad domain, GEI maintains a strategic focus on evaluation when engaging with M E systems, ensuring its support strengthens evaluation capabilities and/or evaluative thinking and practice. GEI works at two mutually reinforcing levels: 1) partnering with governments to strengthen national M E systems; and 2) advancing evaluation practice globally and regionally by coproducing knowledge and building a cadre of evaluators and M E practitioners across government, civil society, academia and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). As GEI's programme portfolio expands, communications and knowledge-management requirements have grown substantially. Editorial products, knowledge products, newsletters, digital channels, campaigns, donor communications, partner outreach, multimedia content, events, webinars, podcasts, social media engagement and digital platforms now require ongoing strategic coordination and professional management. Purpose of the role GEI seeks to recruit a highly motivated and experienced Extended Term Consultant (ETC) to support GEI’s communications and knowledge management team. The Editor Digital Communications Consultant role consolidates two communications functions that GEI has historically run separately —editorial leadership and digital communications — into a single, continuous role. Working in close collaboration with the Senior Knowledge Management Officer, who leads GEI’s communications function, the consultant supports quality, clarity and coherence of what GEI publishes, and manages GEI's digital presence across its corporate channels and platforms, including globalevaluationinitiative.org, betterevaluation.org and the gLOCAL web presence. Working within the Communications Knowledge Management Team, the consultant crafts compelling content, in line with GEI’s strategic messaging, that demonstrates impact and supports fundraising, and leverages digital platforms and data to reach and engage policymaker, public-sector, private-sector and development audiences. The role suits a strategic thinker with strong day-to-day project-management skills, fine attention to detail, and the ability to work across a matrixed, multicultural and multilingual environment. The position will be based in Brussels, Belgium. The ETC term will be for an initial period of 1 year, beginning December 18, 2026 and may be extended if successful (up to 3 years). The ETC will report to the GEI Program Manager. Responsibilities 1. Communications product development KEY TASKS
