Visit www.worldbank.org . Duties and accountabilities: Support the Growth and Jobs Report

  • Support the drafting of policy notes and guidelines, including but not limited to: Competition and Entry (continuation of previous work on Peters model note), implementation of the Peters 2020 and Baqaee-Farhi 2022 framework, other business reforms, Agriculture for Jobs or Mining and Critical Minerals.
  • Support the analysis and development of methods for matched employer-employee data
  • Support country teams with analysis that fit within Chapter 2 of the CGJR, analyzing firm-level data, assessing the constraints to private sector development, and linking the findings to growth and the creation of more and better jobs. This can include drafting chapter sections.
  • Support country teams in linking proposed policy reforms in CGJRs and DPOs to the macromodels (MFMod and MANAGE) used for estimating the impact of reforms on the economy. This can include drafting parts of CGJR policy chapters and of the modelling annex to DPO program documents.
  • Finalize the drafting of several background papers on private sector, growth and jobs strategies and policy, under Lead Economist supervision.
  • Support the development of analytical and policy-oriented outputs linking micro-level market characteristics to macroeconomic outcomes, including data analysis, econometric analysis, and the preparation of policy notes and research materials.
  • Conduct empirical analysis using firm-level and country-level datasets to examine how market power and firm markups affect the transmission of macroeconomic shocks across sectors and firms.
