Background The WBG People Vice Presidency is responsible for getting the right public and private sector solutions to our operational teams and to our clients, and to produce scalable impact. Its mandate is to deliver knowledge for impact to enable and support the WBG to achieve its goals in support of our mission and specifically: providing guidance on creating more and better jobs; supporting foundational infrastructure and human capital, policy environment, and private sector mobilization; focusing on agribusiness, healthcare, infrastructure, manufacturing, and tourism; and support and accelerate specific targets such as M300, Health 1.5bn, and SP 500. The VPU’s objectives in driving outcomes include replicating and scaling effective solutions, enhancing thought leadership and innovation, and delivering timely knowledge to client teams. Health Global Practice The World Bank Group (WBG) supports countries’ efforts towards achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and to provide quality, affordable health services to everyone —regardless of their ability to pay — by strengthening primary health care systems and reducing the financial risks associated with ill health and increasing equity. The Health Global Practice (former Health Nutrition and Population, HNP GP) delivers financing, analytics, and policy advice to help countries advance universal health coverage by strengthening primary care, public health, and financial protection – anchored in corporate priorities such as reaching 1.5 billion people with essential health services by 2030 and strengthening social protection systems to reach at least 500 million people, half of them women and girls. Its teams provide upstream guidance on legal, regulatory, and institutional reforms—such as benefit package design, purchasing and provider payment, quality standards, workforce policies, and digital health governance—to enable effective, equitable service delivery and mobilize private sector solutions aligned with WBG goals. The position will report to the Director for Health and will work closely with the Director’s Front Office team and in close collaboration with the Director’s leadership team. The position will involve supporting in the following areas: trust funds and budget management, donor/partner engagement, HR functions and recruitment, front office coordination and office management, including coordination and monitoring front office work program and deliverables across teams. Key responsibilities:

  • Identify and provide input to key business processes and implement systems critical to the efficient and effective delivery of work programs across all teams to enable the Director and the Front Office to function effectively and efficiently
  • Work with the Director’s Front Office team in preparing for meetings, events and missions, including drafting inputs for briefs and correspondence, coordination and follow up of deliverables and action items required by EXC, MDCKO and VP’s offices and the coordination and support for the Health Practice Board
  • Support the Trust Fund and Budget Coordinator/team on trust funds and budget management including but not limited to monitoring, analyzing and preparing reports on trust funds and budget, coordinating the work of the Policy and Regulation operational teams on regional engagement (regional pASAs), budget, TF/external funds management, GFRs and ASA portfolio management
  • Coordinate and support the governance of the partnership council for the umbrella trust fund and ensure follow-up on the agreed action steps, including preparation of the Partnership Council meetings and other donor/partner related meetings, events, annual reports
  • Work closely with the Lead for Strategy and Sr Partnerships Specialist on donor and partner coordination and engagement including drafting briefs, correspondences, organization and management of key events and meetings related to the 1.5B Health Target Implementation Plan, country compacts and the broader partnership and fundraising work program
  • Coordinate HR recruitment and procurement processes, providing oversight and support to the Director and the Director’s leadership team.
