Key Informant Interview and Data Analysis Support

Mission and objectives

ICVA is a global network of non-governmental organisations whose mission is to make humanitarian action more principled and effective by working collectively and independently to influence policy and practice. Our work is based on the humanitarian principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality and independence, as well as the Principles of Partnership. We work towards a system that enables people affected by humanitarian crises to receive equitable access to quality assistance and protection rooted in international humanitarian and human rights law. We promote innovative approaches to humanitarian policy development and implementation, and offer evidence-based, solutions-oriented advocacy. We promote equitable inclusive engagement of NGOs and principled multi-stakeholder partnerships to realise the full value of diversity and to ensure the legitimacy of our work.

Context

The volunteer will support a joint UNICEF-ICVA review of localisation in the context of shrinking humanitarian funding. The project aims to generate evidence and practical recommendations to inform UNICEF’s Localisation Strategy by examining partnership models, financing, capacity strengthening and the role of local and national actors in humanitarian response. The assignment will contribute to the implementation and analysis of a global survey targeting local and national NGOs, INGOs, UNICEF staff and other humanitarian stakeholders.

Task Description

Under the supervision of the project lead, the volunteer will:

• Support the planning, coordination, documentation, and synthesis of approximately 10-20 key informant interviews with humanitarian stakeholders.
• Support quantitative analysis of survey data collected through a global survey targeting local and national NGOs, INGOs, UNICEF staff, and other humanitarian actors.
• Support qualitative analysis of interview notes and open-ended survey responses, including thematic coding and identification of key findings.
• Contribute to the preparation of data summaries, charts, tables, and analytical briefs. Expected deliverables:
• Consolidated interview notes and/or interview summaries.
• Cleaned and organised survey datasets.
• Quantitative and qualitative analysis outputs, including thematic findings and data visualisation.
• Contributions to analytical summaries, presentations, and the final report. The volunteer will work under the direct supervision of the Project Lead and in collaboration with members of the UNICEF-ICVA project team. Regular check-in meetings will be held to review progress, provide technical guidance, discuss challenges, and ensure alignment with project objectives. Feedback will be provided throughout the assignment to support both quality assurance and the volunteer’s professional development.
