Mission and objectives
UNICEF is a leading humanitarian and development agency working globally for the rights of every child. Child rights begin with safe shelter, nutrition, protection from disaster and conflict and traverse the life cycle: pre-natal care for healthy births, clean water and sanitation, health care and education. UNICEF has spent nearly 70 years working to improve the lives of children and their families. Working with and for children through adolescence and into adulthood requires a global presence whose goal is to produce results and monitor their effects. UNICEF also lobbies and partners with leaders, thinkers and policy makers to help all children realize their rights—especially the most disadvantaged.Context

Port Sudan serves as the operational hub for the UNICEF Sudan Country Office emergency response. Living conditions are generally functional but may present challenges related to humanitarian operations, including security restrictions, limited services, disruptions in transportation and communications, and periods of high operational intensity. Sudan is a unique and complex humanitarian operation. It offers an exceptional opportunity to contribute to life-saving humanitarian action and to support children affected by one of the world's largest emergencies. However, the assignment requires resilience, adaptability, cultural sensitivity and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a rapidly evolving environment. Flexibility and willingness to live and work in challenging conditions are essential. We review listings for quality, but organizations may update or amend a posting at any time, so confirm the role and closing date on the organization’s official site before applying.
