Terms of Reference

Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada at the time of application. This includes individuals with one of the following statuses:
• Canadian citizen
• Permanent Resident of Canada (with valid documentation)
• Holder of a valid work permit or other written authorization under the federal Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• advancing research on topics that interest UNHCR (asylum laws, border issues, etc.);
• writing reports, collecting and analyzing data;
• creating informational material for the public or asylum seekers;
• representing UNHCR at awareness events;
• taking part in information sessions for asylum seekers;
• translating texts from English to French, and vice versa;
• supporting the UNHCR office team with all sorts of other tasks (event logistics, meeting note-taking, PowerPoint presentations, website updates, etc.).
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent oral and written communications skills
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently under deadlines.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Good computer skills, in particular Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Fluency in written and spoken English. French language skills are a strong asset
