Mission and objectives
Helping countries to achieve the simultaneous eradication of poverty and significant reduction of inequalities and exclusion. With the changing world as the backdrop, and building on our core strengths, our vision is focused on making the next big breakthrough in development: to help countries achieve the simultaneous eradication of poverty and significant reduction of inequalities and exclusion. This is a vision within reach, with the eradication of extreme poverty and major reductions in overall poverty feasible within a generation. It should be possible as well to make significant inroads against income and non- income measures of inequality and exclusion within this time fame. This ambitious vision will require an institution that meets benchmarks for organizational effectiveness that match or exceed the highest standards set in its peer community. It will also demand that we organize our work around a focused set of outcomes. These outcomes will support the priorities and needs of each country and region, and capture the development changes UNDP will contribute towards directly, significantly and variably during the course of the Strategic Plan. In so doing, we will align our approach to results with other United Nations agencies.Context
Task Description
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Regional Service Centre for Africa (RSCA) is seeking 10 Online UN Volunteers to support the initial longlisting of applications received for the UNDP African Youth Co-Creators Council. The African Youth Co-Creators Council is a continental advisory mechanism that will bring together 11 young leaders representing Africa's five regions and the diaspora to strengthen youth participation across the African Youth Portfolio. Given the high volume of applications received, Online Volunteers will support the first stage of the selection process by conducting an eligibility screening against the minimum application requirements. Under the supervision of the Youth Team (under the Governance, Peacebuilding and Rule of Law Hub), Online Volunteers will: • Review assigned applications using the agreed eligibility criteria. • Verify that applicants meet the minimum requirements, including age, nationality/residency, completeness of the application, submission of all required documents, language requirements, and other mandatory eligibility criteria. • Identify applications that are incomplete, ineligible, duplicated, or do not meet the minimum requirements. • Accurately record screening results using the standardized evaluation spreadsheet provided by UNDP. • Maintain strict confidentiality and impartiality throughout the review process. • Flag any applications requiring clarification or further review by the Youth Team. This assignment does not involve scoring or ranking candidates. Its sole purpose is to conduct the initial eligibility screening to ensure that only eligible applications proceed to the substantive review and evaluation stages.Competencies and values
