Background Information
Opened in 1999, IOM Republic of Korea (ROK) has been an active partner and support of ROK civil society and the government alike, in various areas of cross-border migration, migrants rights and humanitarian assistance. The Programme Support Unit of IOM ROK leads multiple projects to provide comprehensive policy, operational and partnership support for the Government of Korea and liaises with international partners to facilitate cooperation and coordinated responses in diverse aspects of human mobility and humanitarian assistance.
Under the overall supervision of Sr.National Government Liaison and Partnership Officer and direct supervision of the Sr.Project Associate, the successful candidate will provide support in the implementation of various projects under the Programme Support Unit, including activities related to government and civil society partnerships, refugee resettlement and movement operations, and assistance to vulnerable migrants.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
Assist in IOM ROK’s movement operations to support the safe and orderly movement of refugees and vulnerable migrants moving through the Incheon International Airport, including managing the movement data, compiling relevant documents, and providing relevant procurement support.
Assist with administrative work related to the refugee resettlement to the ROK to support the successful implementation of the project, including documentation of project results and assistance in relevant meetings.
Support the administrative work for ad-hoc return and reintegration assistance to the ROK through documentation and procurement support.
Participate and assist in stakeholder meetings and project development on domestic migrant agendas in the ROK, including research, meeting preparations, and documentation.
Provide logistical and administrative assistance for the ANDEX capacity building programme on travel document verification funded by KOICA.
Assist in arranging and coordinating mission events such as seminars, conferences, meetings, and others, including relevant logistics.
Perform any other duties that may be assigned.
Desirable Qualifications:
Education
Enrolled in last year of Bachelor’s degree programme or graduated Bachelor Degree programme or equivalent in international development, international relations, political or social sciences, migration studies, human rights, or related field.
Experience
Experience in desk research
Experience in international, non-governmental and/or government organization, and project support and implementation is desirable
Prior experience in an international environment is preferred
Skills
Proficiency in office software package (e.g., MS Word, Excel)
Familiarity with humanitarian assistance, international development, and migration issues
Languages
Required
Professional proficiency in both Korean and English (oral and written) is required.
